No Locals
Ive had this Directv service for 10 years or more, and on June 3rd it stopped providing local channels. I have tried Many times to get some answers and nothing. There has been a Tech support guy here but all he was able to do was move the dish to a different location and that still didnt bring back the local channels. Almost everytime i have chatted with tech support I have been promised the situation would be resolved at the end of the day. NOPE. I was told I was going to receive a antenna to connect to the main DIVR and STILL have NOT received that either! No one i have talked to has been able to give me a answer to WHY this is happening.

That is truly a bummer. Do you receive an error code when trying to access your local channels? Better yet, do they even show up in the Guide?
If you have more than one receiver, do others also have issues accessing your local channels?
It would also be super helpful if you provided the model numbers of the receivers that you are currently using so we can help you.

Tell DIRECTV when you have them on the phone that you want THEM to reset your receiver & Program Package & tell them that you will have your receiver ON and watch as they do it. Tell them you'd like to stay on the phone with them as they do it.
I am sure the people on the phone have the ability to do this.
See if that corrects your problem.
also . . .
Something else that "might" be happening is they might have you listed as being "out of a local station TV service area" and if so your getting the major networks via either the EAST or WEST coast TV stations that they provide to people in this situation.
These channels are located up near 389-399. See if they are active.
If they are ask DIRECTV why and tell them you want your local channels instead.
this might also be your problem, just an idea ???
let us know if these work,
Al

No error code, Local channels are on the online guide (but it says i cant access online) and local channels no longer appear on the TV guide. Thats how i discovered i had no Locals. And all the TVs we have are all the same, No Locals. That RED Button has been reset A LOT since June 3rd on all 6 receivers and main tower. 6 receivers have the model # C61W-400 and the main tower is model # HS17-500

@Lisa81 have you manually tried entering the channel number with the remote keypad? If it says 'Channel not Available' then be sure you don't have a Favorites list or otherwise customized list that restricts the showing of the locals.
Other than that, there are two possibilites.
1. You are somehow changed to a No Locals package with DIRECTV.
2. Your receiver needs new authorizations. Visit directv.com/refresh to refresh that particular receiver. Be sure to choose the right one and characterize it based on the receiver ID and access card shown online against your actual receiver ID and access card for the receiver. Once verified, press 'Refresh receiver'.

Everything in every comment above i have done, and I have Not changed my programming. There is no reason why i am not getting local channels. I just got off the phone with customer support, AGAIN, and was told I will get a response in 72 hours, total runaround, AGAIN

What happens if you try to tune in to a local channel Directly without going through the guide? Error message, blank screen? Are you on a favorite's list? What's your zip code?

Normally there are 12 Local channels, between the channels of 1 and 70. Whenever i enter in a local channel (for example 9) it goes straight to channel 70. No error message, no code Just No Local Channels. Again yesterday i talked to "customer tech support", I could not make them understand that there are other DirecTv customers in my area that DO NOT have this problem, anyway i was told something will be done in 72 hours....so we will see, i am not holding my breath.

What is your zip code and county?
DirecTV being a satellite provider is only allowed per Federal regulations to provide you locals that are in your Designated Market Area (DMA). As all your locals are not pulling up, it is possible the DMA line recently changed resulting in you now being outside of it.

So you're not getting any channels below 100, it's been about 6 years since I worked for DirecTV and iirc when customers would call in with this issue I would do a repeat satellite setup (I think, I don't remember the exact reason this happens but it does happen periodically).Have you tried a repeat satellite setup via the menu?
