Old person

At 83, I don't know what a new Gemini will do for us. My husband is legally blind and would like to change channels by voice. We have satellite Direct TV.

We’re glad you came to us to resolve your questions about the Gemini device. You and your husband can easily change channels using voice commands with the remote control and saying simple commands such as "Go to channel 100" or "Search Wheel of Fortune" Just press and release the Google Assistant/MIC button on your remote. You can see it in the image below:

You will hear a short sound to let you know the device is hearing you.

There are other good tips about using the Gemini Voice remote control here: https://www.directv.com/support/article/000091378 If you need more assistance with this, feel free to let us know. DIRECTV is ready to help. Claudia, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Sounds great Now how can I get a Direct TV person to install the new Gemini?  I think we have coverage in our plan to have someone do this for us.

@Babag11

What are the models of each box you have now?

Depending on your setup there may be more that needs to be done or it could be a downgrade compared to what you have now.

Be aware just like any other box, the Gemini would be an equipment upgrade with a 24 month service agreement.

@Babag11

You say you have 4 TVs, but you listed 10 boxes. You also listed several that are impossible to be together.

So please check for the actual numbers please.

I got those under my Direct tv account.

There is no way your account would say you have 10 boxes when you only have 4 TVs. Especially since you can only have a single Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54)/Genie Lite (H44)/Genie-2 (HS17) on the account. So you weren't looking in the right place online.

Instead, check the 4 boxes you have for their correct model numbers. With them on, you can go into the MENU and then INFO AND TEST and it should show the model on the screen. Otherwise it is on a label on the box, either on the underside, or behind the access card door (on the front where it says PUSH).

Then you better find out what receivers you do have on each of those TVs and deactivate the rest at most you have one HS17 Genie2 and 4 minis

Having more boxes activated I can see, if something was replaced but the old one was not deactivated. But the fact that 4 of the boxes listed are impossible to be on the account together is why I suspect they weren't looking in the right spot.

@Babag11 we appreciate the information you have shared with our amazing ACEs. However, to upgrade your devices, we need to have access to your account, it will help us to know your active devices and give you recommendations on which kind and how many you need.

Please check in the upper right corner between the bell (notification icon) and the "directv.com" tab for the speech bubble. It should look like this:
