Problem with NHL Center Ice recording on Genie-1 receivers
I am noticing a problem with recordings of NHL games on the NHL Center Ice, or NBA games on NBA Courtside Pass, if I record them on my Genie-1 receiver.
If I record a game on the Genie-1 receiver, it records and I can watch it on the same day or the next day. But after 2-3 days, the recording is now all blank, so the game cannot be viewed again.
I did some troubleshooting on this.
1) This problem only occurs on the NBA Courtside Pass or NHL Center Ice channels (channels 700 thru 799). If I record an NBA game from ESPN or NBATV, the game can be viewed again a week later.
2) This problem only occurs on Genie-1 receivers. I have HR24 receivers. I did an experiment when I recorded an NHL game from Center Ice on the Genie-1 receiver. I recorded the same game on one of the HR24 receivers.
I could view the game on both receivers the next day. I did not delete the game and kept it for over a week. After a week, the game on the HR24 is still viewable. But the game on the Genie-1 is now blank.
What's going on with the Genie-1 with regard to the Courtside Pass or Center Ice games? Why does it go blank after 2 days?

This has been posted before for those games but it started with the MLB, the only work around is to record from the 600 RSN channels but your posting that the HR24s still have the recordings is new.

So are you stating that DirecTV has nothing to do with this?

What was stated was the issue started with another league (MLB before affecting NHL, and I've seen posts referencing NBA as well), and what the current workaround is. Also that your mentioning the HR24s are unaffected is new information. Nothing was said about DirecTV having or not having anything to do with this (at least in this thread).
As a note for future, the Genie has a few different model numbers where the Genie-2 only has one (so far). So please always include the actual model number like you did with your regular HDDVR (HR24).

I thought Genie-1 was the one that is rectangular and looked like a (smaller) HR24 receiver, while the Genie-2 is the tower (receiver is upright). Are there different versions of Genie-1 receivers?

The first Genie was the HR34 that is no longer available, then came the HR44 to be followed by the HR54, the tower is the HS17 Genie2.

Genie: HR34, HR44, HR54, and revised HR54R1 (removes eSATA port, also seems casing is cheaper). The 34 remains on the old software with hardware that didn't keep up with the needs of the Genie; 44 receives update from old software to new software and is last with phone jack; 54 starts on new software and has improved hardware to also support 4K Clients.
Genie Lite: H44 (optional DVR upgrade kit to be similar to HR44)
Genie-2: HS17; After the first run has revised model that just like HR54R1 removes the eSATA port (but doesn't have the R1 designator in the model which I find to be a bit of an issue)
