MeTv isn't a nationwide channel as such it is mostly carried as a sub channel on a local channel so unless that local channel puts it on their main channel DTV doesn't carry most sub channels.

The issue is that it is not a nationwide network. Instead it is carried by local affiliates, usually on a sub-channel. DirecTV doesn't get sub-channels, assumedly as their are too many for the available satellite bandwidth.

So to get the channel you use a regular over-the-air (OTA) antenna if within range. As for DirecTV getting it, that would only happen if the local affiliate moves it from the sub-channel to the primary one that DirecTV carries.
