Recording Issues

I have tried for the past two seasons to record episodes of The Equalizer.  80% of the time, the recording starts with the last 15 minutes of the program, 60 minutes and then it starts recording The Equalizer.  The biggest hassle is that the last 15 minutes of the show are not recorded.  AND when I try to watch it from the On Demand menu, it has the same recording:  15 minutes of one program and then the first 45 minutes of the show I want to see.  It's very frustrating and the Direct TV chatline is totally worthless as it puts you in a continuous loop asking the same qualifying questions over and over without transferring to a human operator!  Has anyone else had these issues?

Does this happen every week or only when some live sports broadcast runs long? This time of year with football, I need to add time to all my CBS recordings on Sunday. Golf tournaments tend to run long too. On demand should not have that issue, though.

it's a live sports issue as sandblaster says, causing the overrun.. The on demand recording is the same program as originally live so has the same problem.

I disagree with that. I have downloaded on demand specifically from CBS in times when live sports ran long and I forgot to pad the live recording and the on demand program was fine. In fact I did so with NCIS LA in the last month or so.

I appreciate the comments you have given.  It has given me some hope.  I fast forwarded this morning to see what Sunday's programming is, but it says, To Be Announced that far ahead.  However, it makes sense that it could have been a channel that routinely has football or sports on it during the day.  BUT, then if that's true, I have two more questions:

Why doesn't the on demand recording of the show (if it is placed there by the CBS network) run the actual hour of the show?

When I record a series, does it give the option of adding an extra 30 or 60 minutes?

Last season, at this same set-up of CBS's The Equalizer, it was recording a 2hr 30min slot which caught part of The Equalizer and part of NCIS LA.

I'm ready to give up, but will try to adjust my series recording set-up.

Thank-you

Yes. You can set the series to always record an extra 30 or 60 minutes or set individually scheduled recordings to add minutes. I always do the latter on football sundays when CBS has a late game. Simply go to your to do list, select the next scheduled recording of that series and select “episode options”. If you want to add minutes for the series, select “series options”.

As I stated above, it does. I disagree with @TexasBrits assertion. I have never viewed an on demand program that contained parts of a different show or that didn’t have the entire episode.

This has happened to me more than once. Maybe it depends on the affiliate.

That doesn’t make sense. Everyone should get the same on demand program. I would suspect you weren’t actually viewing the on demand program.
