Rec'vd letter today about cancelling DNS Channels on 1st June 2020?

First I don't believe ahutting off DNS was Congress's intent. What can we do to make Directv/AT&T reverse course? What about Mobile customers:

@mdram4x4 you are right... except we don't give as much money to them as the NAB. If there ever was a quid-pro-quo it is the arrangement between broadcasters and Congress (both Houses, and Presid campaigns). The NAB can do whatever they want as long as they give Elections special "air-time" and give us a pile of dough, in turn we buy multmillions $$$$ of airtime for our campaign commercials...

wish I could get a sweet heart deal...

Still don't understand how this hurts anyone? It's not like people are getting this as a free service. I still think if your willing to pay for it, and its available you should be able to purchase.

the problem is stations buy the airwaves in a region and get exclusive rights from networks for that region.

allowing dns cuts into the people that watch them, lowering thier ad revenue

its the same a franchise. you buy the rights to a mcdonalds, and mcdonalds wont build another one close to you

HI thanks again. You are partly correct. Except in areas where you are in a fringe area or a multi-DMA (designated market area). In my case every channel I have is a O&O (owned and operated by the network itself, NYC metro and the LA stations. Plus I was originally "grandfathered" when Direct switched from Prime 24, to "in-market" stations. Yes I've been a customer that long.

those station still have exculsive rights to the dma.

its how tv works. it does not matter if they are o&o, independnet or part of a big corp.

thats the leverage stations use during negotiations. they know they cant be replaced.

I travel in an RV and cannot receive local Networks at all as they only exist inside a spot beam for the specific region of the broadcast. Each time I leave my home spot beam I lose ALL Network programming. I must have DNS so I can watch Network programming of any kind even though it might be coming from NY or LA despite my being in CO or NM or where ever. If this is taken away I will have to switch to DISH which allows mobile users (for free) to change local Network programming to each new location. I have been a DTV customer for about 20 years and this is very disappointing news. I thought I read that part of the bill that was passed in Dec, 2019 allowed mobile accounts with an RV Waiver and Truckers to continue to receive DNS.
