Replace lost network channels

Sometimes, access to local channels is limited because satellite companies and local network stations have not reached a contractual agreement over the retransmission fee. In areas like this, satellite providers will transmit network television broadcasts from other, more distant cities so consumers still have access to nationwide network programming.

When Directv can't come to contractual agreements with local network stations why aren't we eligible to receive ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC from New York or Los Angeles via your Distant Network Services?

Those DNS channels are only available with an RV Traveler's account or if there is no equivalent local for your area (which is not the same as negotiation with the local).

As such DirecTV is only allowed to provide you the locals that are in your Designated Market Area (DMA), but only with the channel's permission of course. So in the situation of carriage negotiations, DirecTV is not allowed to provide you those other locals.

Directv can't "import" the channels from anywhere else, including the DNS channels, because the FCC won't allow it

Below is from the Directv website. If you can do it for travelers it seems you should be able to also do it for anywhere.

Get what back?

The only way to get the DNS channels is to get waivers from your local stations.  And that's virtually impossible these days.
