Replay multiple taps broken after new update
The replay function should rewind in multiples of 3-5 seconds when tapped repeatedly. However after the new update, repeated taps on the replay button on the remote causes the program to rewind in 15 minute increments.
please fix. Extremely frustrating.

Hi, @Tcas1. We understand that there are a few changes after the update. We will forward your suggestion about the replay feature to the appropriate team, so they can review and determine the next steps. DIRECTV appreciates your input. Christian, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Jumping in to report that I'm having the same issue since the new update. A double press of the replay button is currently working like a tap of the replay button while a rewind is active has historically worked. It takes you back to the previous tick mark in the progress bar. For a long recording it takes you back to the previous 30 minute mark. For a short recording, it takes you back to the previous 15 minute mark. I've tried rebooting as well as executing a "CLEARMYBOX/search" reboot. Neither cleared up the problem. For this to happen, it needs to be a pretty quick double tap of the remote. If you pause between taps, the box performs correctly. For reference, I have an HS17 receiver.

I'm having the same issue after the software upgrade. On with "Lawrence" after remotely rebooting, he said the best way to fix it is to send new equipment. SMH. Clearly a software issue.

A little bit more to add. This problem doesn't occur 100% of the time.
Because I'm not seeing as many complaints about this as I would expect, I tried to think of things about my setup that might not be standard. One thing that I though about is the option to instantly skip ahead 30 seconds. I have the "30SKIP/search" option turned on on my receiver. I tried resetting it back to "standard" using the "30SLIP/search command to see if doing so would correct the problem. While it didn't correct the problem, it occurred more sporadically than it does when the 30SKIP feature is turned on.
I don't know if the other people also have the 30SKIP feature turned on or not. But I figured that I'd mention it in case it can help isolate the issue.

Having the exact same problem as originally described in this thread, including when it started.
I am curious as to the comments about 30slip vs 30skip. No idea what that means or that there was any place to modify the traits of the 30 second forward button.

Go to the search screen. Enter 30SKIP and press the red button on the remote. That's it. After doing that, when you press the 30 second forward button, it will instantly advance 30 seconds. To set the receiver back to standard behavior do the same thing. But enter 30SLIP instead of 30SKIP.

Thank you. Are there other hidden configuration settings that can be found with search vs. using the settings function under menu?

The only other command that I know of like that is "CLEARMYBOX/red button". It is the equivalent of restarting your receiver twice within a 30 minute period. It clears out more than a regular restart. It's kind of like having a new receiver, but with all of the settings that you've changed and recordings that you have scheduled still there.
A CLEARMYBOX will wipe out and rebuild the program guide, which could take hours. It could also prevent you from accessing certain premium channels (for me it's typically the 4K channels) for a few hours. Typically, I if I'm having problems with my receiver, I will run a CLEARMYBOX if a regular reboot hasn't corrected the issue. When I do, I will do so before going to bed (unless I have something scheduled to record overnight). By the morning, everything will have been rebuilt. As I mentioned in my post above, I tried executing a CLEARMYBOX reboot before coming here to report the the replay button double tap issue and discovered that Tcas1 had beaten me to the punch.

Same problem. I’ve been on the phone several times with directv. They’ve replaced the geni mini and whatever the tower shaped one is. Neither worked, but, at least I lost all my recordings and settings.
Has anything been done yet?

Copied over from a separate thread highlighting the same issue:
I am also having this same issue since about September when this thread first mentions it. To be specific:
- If I use the replay button once or twice it does go back a small timeframe, but does appear to pause, although I don’t believe I have to hit the play button to get back to the program. But it does take a very noticeable time to restart the program a few seconds back.
- If I select the replay button 3 times it jumps all the way back to the most recent 15 minute break and restarts the program at that point, which is different from prior behavior. Previously I could use the replay button to jump back on small (6 secs?) increments many times. That would be the preferred function. We already have the rewind button to go back furthur.
I am running client software 0x1b1c on a Genie 2 and just the other day reset the system on the Genie.
Based on this steady functionality and the length of time this has been an open ‘bug’, I believe this was a conscious change in function and we’ll probably have to wait for a new system update for it to be reversed.

Vink, I don't believe that this was an intentional change. I know some people who have a Genie who haven't been able to make this happen. So, it's not an "across the board" thing like you would expect with an intentional modification. Also, in my case, it doesn't require three presses of the replay button for the problem to occur. For me, it happens after two presses. Also, for me it doesn't always happen when I press twice. It probably happens somewhere between 50-75% of the time.
Personally, I think that it's a glitch that's only affecting specific revisions of the HS-17. I don't know if multiple manufacturers of the HS-17, like there have been with other receivers or not. But I do know for certain that hardware changes have been made since the HS-17 came out. For example, some have an e-SATA jack and others don't.
It's always possible that different revisions can behave differently from one another if everything hasn't been tested thoroughly enough.

AFAIK there has only been one maker of the HS17 and most of the new minis.

I just double checked. There has been an HS17-100 and an HS17-500. Historically the suffix has identified the manufacturer of that particular unit.

Yes, the last numbers are who made it but they are made to the same specs.

Same specs doesn't necessarily mean identical chips. That's why there have historically been slight variations in performance between sub-models of various receivers. Regardless, my point is that specs have changed since the HS17's were released. At the very least, they were changed once when they stopped putting eSATA connectors into them. So, even without taking multiple manufacturers into account, there are at least two different variations of HS17's in service.
