DirecTV and DIRECTV NOW are completely separate services. Because of the huge confusion with the similar name, they rebranded the latter to AT&T TV NOW.
DirecTV is service by satellite where you pay for each authorized TV for an individual residence. The DirecTV app is only for on mobile devices (smart phone/tablet). So there is not an option for Roku or other such devices.
AT&T TV NOW is a streaming-only service. So it needs devices like Roku to work.
Though both owned by AT&T, they have nothing to do with each other.

No, DTV is not a streaming service, the only app DTV has is to stream to mobile devices when on the home network.

DTV Now has been renamed to AT&T TV Now and it is a streaming service with its own subscription price and has nothing to do with DTV sat service.
