Screensavers
We used to get landscapes on pause, but now we just get ads for premium channels with some pretty gruesome pictures. Ugh! How can we chang that to something more attractive?

You can't. If you disconnect the internet from the receiver then the ads will go away but you will also lose On Demand, start from the beginning and paying for PPV with the remote.

You cannot change it back to landscapes or anything else you find more attractive. The service decides when you switch between landscapse and advertisements and how often.
The only option is to disconnect the box from the internet connection so that it reverts back to the basic logo screen saver. You lose access to On Demand by doing so.
Sorry but this is built-into the service. It has no option to customize it.

The amount of DirecTV ads and promotions is really startling. Just pause a program for a second and you get a DirecTV ad or promo for upcoming programs or to add channels....VERY ANOYING!
A huge banner that you have to navigate past EVERY TIME you access your recordings. The banner wants you to purchase programs.
