signal testing tuner 5
Enduring constant "signal testing" of tuner 5, sometimes accompanied by "recording" a premium purchase not made (not recorded or *charged*) on Tuner 4. Repeatedly interferes with scheduled recordings. Sometimes will correct with default corrective measure (i.e., "turn it off, turn it on")--not always, though.

Have you tried a red button reset?

How many DVRs and Receivers do you have?
What model numbers?
I'm guessing that your satellite can't handle all of your satellite tuners.
Have you tried resetting the DVR using the red reset button?

1 DVR/server--(idk what server, spent 13 min so far in att.com account trying to find info--(Edited per community guidelines)!), 3 Genies, OTA pass-through (but this issue happened with OTA tuner actively feeding and also not using any OTA-fed channels). Happens on both server-fed TV and Genie-fed ones.
And why would it tell me one of the unavailable tuners was recording a ppv movie I didn't order, never received, but was also not charged for?

The model numbers are on a label on the side or bottom of the receiver.

FYI: My account info isn't listing anything about my receiver or its specs.

Shannon, that's not going to be helpful at this moment. Not your answer, but the fact the server cabinet is behind some furniture because we had to have the floor re-done and my dad is doing End-Of-Life care (hospice) at home--the main reason its not a good time for the server to pull a poltergeist.
Good thought for less fraught times, though.
It is MaBell-ish that website won't tell me what equipment I have. What is wrong with it (it is also spending 6 to 15 or more seconds moving from link to link, internally)?

Sounds like you probably have an HS17 Genie Server. Its tuners feed signals to your Genie Mini Client boxes. Not sure what you mean by "OTA passthrough". The Genie Server and Mini Client boxes do not support any off-air channels. And you can't use older stand-along DVRs (HR44, HR54) or Receivers (HR2x) boxes with the Genie Server. Without knowing all of your equipment model numbers it will be difficult to help you. Again, first step would be to reset that Genie Server using its red button near the access card. That often solves issues like this, especially if the system was working properly before. Keep us posted.

This is why I hate that the account page won't tell me what equipment I have.
My Genies are served by a wireless video bridge, a WVBR0-25, and not a specific Genie server (I think); I think I have one of the HR44s with 5 tuners; I have an local signal device DTV came up with when they were fighting with one of the broadcast station conglomerates (it restricts the available tuners to 2 when using it as the signal feed)--they called it the Local Channel Connector (LCC). [Edit: actually it is some algorithm that balances the 2 available OTA tuners with the normally available 5 sat tuners.-ern]
We've had this setup for couple of years and this issue has only appeared in the last month or so.
The red button reset usually works (but I can't reach it right now), but I would like this issue to stop. I have housebound people who depend on the DVR to watch the programs they need to timeshift when more than one is "live" at the same time.

You only have 1 Genie the rest are mini clients. AFAIK the LCC provides all local channels in range to the guide then whatever tuner in use can select them, you can record 5 OTA channels at a time or 5 sat channels or mixed.

The LCC packet was pretty specific about 2 OTA recordings at a time. Doesn't mean that is still the case (if it ever was), but it was the latest info I have to work with.

When AT&T was integrating DirecTV's account information into their website (before the recent move back to a separate website with the new co-owner), model number info was no longer available. It only showed line of equipment (HDDVR, Genie, etc.).
All boxes on a TV when you pull up their info menu will show the model number. The Genie-2 (HS17) is the only server tower, unique that it doesn't go on a TV itself. It stands vertically because of being a tower, so is easily identifiable just by looks.
All main Genies are a "server" as the Mini Genie Clients cannot work without them. The wireless video bridge (WVB) is the wireless antenna that connects the wireless Mini Genies (C41W or C61W) to the main Genie. Regular Genie line is HR34, HR44, HR54 (or revised HR54R1) and you can only have 1 main Genie/Genie Lite (H44)/Genie-2 (HS17).
The Local Channel Connector (LCC) is just for connecting a regular antenna to your setup. It is only compatible with the 2nd/3rd generation Genies (HR44 and HR54/HR54R1). The LCC is technically still in testing as was never nationally launched, and at this point unknown if it ever will be.

[Note: the LCC is only reason I haven't gone back to Comcast (blecch!) or off the cable entirely. I really like my locals' "extra" digital channels.]
Juniper, that fits with my understanding of my set-up, with the exception of never having heard of the HS-17 before today. Also corrects my misunderstanding that my HR44(?) wasn't a dedicated Genie server.
Still not sure how to permanently fix the "jacked" tuner(s) issue, though.
