Is this a C61K receiver? How is the sound delivered? Has this been an issue in the past? Try a red button reset (right side).

@Brandensky8

I’m having same exact issue.

So you get sound on DirecTV's 4K channels but nowhere else including recordings?

HDMI 2.2

And...what are you trying to say here? That by itself doesn't tell us anything useful.

What are the models of each box you have?

Which ones have the problem?

What troubleshooting (if any) have you tried?

What TV set do you have?

Did anything change before the problem started?

Is the DirecTV box connected directly to the TV (so no HDMI splitter or anything)?

Are you using any additional audio equipment or just the TV's built-in speakers?

Any other issues?

Having same issue. It's purely a directv issue. Not a cabling, not a tuner, not a soundbar issue. Confirmed as everything works except directv non 4k channels.

Directv had an error in the audio coding somewhere.

If your pure belief this issue is on the DirecTV side (be it audio coding or something else), then call DirecTV and discuss with official support.

This is a public customer to customer forum. We can help each other out with guidance and troubleshooting. Similar, or seemingly the same issues, might have different causes. And we are not mind readers so do not know the models of equipment you have or exactly what troubleshooting you have done.

If you want help from other customers to try and resolve an issue, then give specific details about what you have, what has been tried, and as much info about the issue as possible. Telling us that it is not this, or this, or even this and instead a DirecTV problem (with no context on how you got to that conclusion) doesn't do anything to fix it. For official help you call DirecTV.

I have a Genie 2 setup with a C61K-700, and hdmi connected straight to the arc hdmi input on a Samsung 65” 8 series. I figured out if I unplug the tv for 30 seconds it will temporarily fix the issue, but once I watch a 4K channel for more then 20 minutes I then lose sound on non 4K channels, and have to once again unplug.

By unplugging the TV, do you mean power or the HDMI cord to the DirecTV box?

Are either the TV or the DirecTV box plugged into a "smart" power strip?

Have you checked for any software/firmware updates for the TV?

I found that if I watch a 4k channels, then after that, the sound does not work on the remainder of the channels.  I turn the TV and the Direct TV box off and on and not sure how. it eventually started to work.  now I just refrain from using 4K and no troubles.  But I like to watch 4k.

I unplug the power directly from the back of the TV. I do not have a smart power strip. TV is updated to current firmware.

I am having this same issue. Did we ever find a fix?

Unplugging the TV For about 15 seconds and plugging back in also worked for me. Shouldn't have to do that every time.

Had to shut off the box, wait a few mins, power on (repeat). Finally worked. This happens frequently after leaving a 4K channel. DirectV will never address it. So happy to be dumping them this February. Massive cost for just NFL ticket.
