Stream local channels different than those on satellite

Why are the local channels offered on Directv Stream different than the ones in same package I had on Directv Satellite?

Specifically, my local station that airs MeTV was available on my Directv satellite as an "independent", but I've changed to Directv Stream and now it is only has network affiliates--no independents.

Hello @rh7425. We understand how important is to watch your favorite channels.

In this case, I want to inform local channels are available based on your card billing Zip Code. If there has been a moving, we can take local channels back by turning ON location status.

Here we can know more about it.

Please let us know if it works, we are here for you.

The FCC dictates what locals channels DTV gives you based on your DMA that is based on your zip code, streaming providers are bound by a different section of the same rules.   DTV only provided MeTV because a local channel was using it as their main channel.

I understand that the channels I get is based upon my zip code; however, the billing zip code is the same for my DTV Stream account as it was for my DTV Satellite account.  I did NOT change providers, I simply changed the delivery method of my DirecTV subscription.  I even kept the same channel package.   So it seems that the local channel lineup should remain the same during the transition,  but that is not the case.  On DTV Stream, my locals are the 4 networks + PBS.  On DTV Satellite, my locals include the above PLUS an independant (MeTV) along with affiliates of CW and ION.  I'm just curious why there is a difference.

@rh7425. Thanks for clarifying that information.

We understand you keep the same package and zip code of the account you used to have before.

Please keep in mind, DIRECTV STREAM and DIRECTV SATELLITE include different Local Channels, based on your zip code as they are both completely different services.

Please let us know if we can work together with another concern.
