Taking home dvr in rv
We are going on a road trip to South Dakota and want to know how I can continue to recieve programming from our Directv satellite. Would like to update zip code once there. Who do I call to change zip code? Do I need to do this or will set top box work no matter where our rv goes?

What DirecTV SWM Satellite dish did you get from Camping World? Only the Winegard Trav'ler dish supports DirecTV HiDef channels.

First we need to know what equipment you have at your home location. Some DVR/Receiver models cannot be used outside your home location. What model(s) do you have?
Also, if you want to get any HiDef channels you'll need a Slimline/SWM satellite dish. That can be either a regular Slimline dish on a tripod, or the Winegard Trav'ler dish. Those cheap dome satellite dishes can't cut it anymore.
And changing locations by calling DirecTV has become much more challenging over the past few years.

You need a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount or the Winegard Trav'ler.
The HR44 being a Genie was more to stay at home while you take a regular HDDVR/non-DVR receiver with you. If you take the Genie, remember any Mini Genie Clients will not work without it.
You don't change your zip code. DirecTV is a residential service. To change your service address you must place a Movers order and install at a new location. You cannot just change it at will. This is because locals, regional sport teams, and taxes you are required to pay are based on the physical service address. The issue is people would take a box with them, leaving others at home, so technically getting service at multiple locations which violated the rules.
For locals, you use a regular over-the-air (OTA) antenna on your TV to pick up whatever is in range. As soon as you leave your home spot beam area, any locals or Regional Sport Networks (RSNs) that DirecTV provides stop working via the satellite service.
