Tegna - Directv dispute

Its now 2024, how much longer will this blackout last? The streaming option is (Edited per community guidelines). If I want to stream all my local stations then why am I paying for Directv?

This is becoming ridiculous! You cant even stream the NBC shows because your service is connected to Directv.

About ready to throw out Directv after 20+ years

We are customers like you so we know just as much as you about the exact duration of this blackout. It will end when Tegna decides to make a fair agreement with DIRECTV that prevents the increase of the cost of TV as a whole. The only reason DIRECTV has decided to wait so long is to protect customers from bill increases.

Note that switching to a different provider isn’t a permanent solution. Sure, it provides you with your local channels for the time being. However, that new provider may also eventually go into blackouts with TV content owners as well, including greedy ones like Tegna and Nexstar. All providers are vulnerable to these blackouts, not just DIRECTV.

It's ridiculous - the NFL Playoffs are about to start and I have to jump through hoops in order to watch FOX when I already pay an absurd amount.

This is difficult to fathom. Local channels do not need a cable company. I can just go to Lowe’s and get an antenna and then get these channels for free. Believe me, If DIRECTV raises its prices again (I almost dropped them last time they raised it), I will switch. The irritating thing is my favorite Cleveland Browns are on NBC this weekend for their first playoff game… Guess I’ll go somewhere else to watch it. Greed drives Tegna…

Bye then as DTV will have to raise the base price so long as the content providers and the local channels continue to increase their prices.

Might as well run to Lowe's for that antenna now.

This is ridiculous. Can't watch the Texans without streaming and you have more playoff games and the Superbowl. If this continues we are done with DT. Already outrageous fee per month.

I do not care whose fault it is, I pay Direct Tv not Tegna directly. Let’s get this figured out both companies are using us the paying customers as pawns. Enough is enough.

It does make a difference to me, I pay D/T and that is who will hear my concerns. I would say please do not be gullible about this, our rates will raise with or without D/T and Tegna reaching an agreement eventually anyway. I come from a background of just do it no excuses because enough is enough. I want my ABC back because that is what I am paying for bottom line. FYI I did message the V/P of operations of our local affiliate here, on LinkedIn and gave him a piece of my mind professionally of course.

The station has no voice in this as Tegna owns it.

I agree to disagree with you. Since your talking simple economics, then you know this will in the end hurt D/T more, because I can promise you folks think in the simple terms, caring about who's at fault is just not going to matter. FYI I did share my concerns and disgust with Tegna, but again its D/T that cashes my check so to speak. Fix It, enough is enough!

Just because you want to pay $20 more instead of $10 doesn't mean everyone else does.

Who in their right minds wants to pay more, I refuse as do many other customers to be caught in-between what appears to be corporate greed. I am not pointing fingers I have no idea who's at fault and neither do you. I ask you does it really matter? Just fix it enough is enough.

Oh, I understand, I also understand having the customer in-between this dispute is unacceptable practice in the business world. Hopefully that was put in the simplest terms for you. Just fix it enough is enough.
