Terrible that you still get charged for cancelled service on ATt home phone and DirecTV

I cancelled our ATT home phone on May 6th 2021 because we got broadband where we live. Both ATt and DirectTV would not credit my accounts for this unused time off of my bill almost 3 weeks early off both services. Crappy business plan and even worse customer service. Sad that money wins over people by ATT and DirecTV.  This is how they treat someone retired from the military.

DTV no longer prorates the bill you pay for and receive service until the end of the billing cycle been that way for 3 years now, read the TOS. DTV/AT&T are not the only ones that do this.

The service isn’t cancelled until the end of your billing cycle. You could have still used it until then. AT&T/DirecTV did not stop you from doing so. Terrible to think you should not have to pay for service that you are still receiving.

@rbailey1964

You may find it terrible, but it is in the Terms of Service. AT&T/DirecTV are neither the first, nor the last, to have gone to flat monthly billing. This has become standard in the industry.

This is the notice sent back in 2018 advising all customers.

Please read this if you receive DIRECTV, AT&T U-verse® TV, AT&T Internet, AT&T Phone, and/or AT&T Fixed Wireless service(s). We want to remind you that you’re billed in advance for recurring service(s) and/or programming charges and applicable fees based on the terms of your current service agreement(s) with us. Starting January 14, 2019, subject to applicable laws, we’re updating your agreement(s) to include your recurring service(s)/programming charges and fees won’t be prorated if you cancel the above service(s) on any day other than the last day of your billing cycle. Your service(s) will continue until the end of your billing cycle but you won’t get a refund (prorated credits) for any remaining days left in your billing cycle. For products not listed above, refer to their terms of service for more information.

Questions about this change? Go to att.com/ProrationPolicy for more information and to see the revised section of your service agreement(s).

And this has nothing to do with your Military service. Don't dishonor that time by trying to use that as crutch anytime you are upset with something. That is a dishonor to all other Service Members.
