Most likely your receiver is set to the wrong time zone. As @litzdog911 posted earlier, we need a DVR or HD receiver model number to further assist as most receivers have different menus.
To change the time zone on an R22, select Menu on the remote, go down to Settings & Help, select Settings in the options that appear to the right of the screen, in the Settings go to Display, then look for time zone. I cannot recall right now where to find it but it is relatively easy. You will have the option to select the time zone and be sure that daylight settings is set to Auto (Yes.)
I slightly disagree. The R22 is certainly an older one that has been surpassed by later models. However, it is MPEG-4 so is capable of being an HDDVR if you have at least one H model on the account to give permission for the R22 to turn on full capability.
I mention this as with the push to replace older equipment with the MPEG-2 shutdown, the R22s can stay as long as you have one fully capable model. A Genie and two R22s would be better than with two Mini Genie Clients because of the tuners, recording space, and independent reliability.
As a note, HD recordings do take up more space. An R22 replaced with a more recent HDDVR (last model HR24) would be ideal for the long run. That way you have a larger hard drive, and you don't confuse agents who don't understand the R22 being the special model (even legacy DirecTV agents had too many unfamiliar with it).

The R22 is an obsolete standard definition DVR. How long have you had it?

It's been a long time, long enough that I don't remember.
