What should I do to take my genie to vacation rental home for two months? They have directv but not same subscription as us.

You cannot mix boxes from different accounts onto the same setup.

Genie model number?

What type of dish is at the vacation rental home?  It must be "single wire multiswitch".

We're here to help, @Csunkel!

As our ACE's have suggested previously, it is possible, but there are variables that change how it would be done or if it can be done.

Typically, we would update the service address on your account to the new location if there is no need for installation at the vacation home, then have the receivers activated at the second location through the backend to get the local channel information for the new location. There is also the possibility of having a second location account, which you would just need to speak with a representative to have the receivers activated on.

However, what you stated implies that there is already a DIRECTV subscriber or account for the vacation home under someone else's name. There cannot be 2 different accounts for the same type of services set up for 1 address, so you would either need to have them upgrade the package to the one you want, transfer the billing responsibility for the account to you and set that account up as a second home account, or have them cancel the account and switch your service address to the vacation home, as mentioned earlier.

Of course, the easiest way around all of this is to use the DIRECTV streaming options and network streaming services for channels you subscribe to in order to bring some of the programming you love with you.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns, and we hope this helps clear up your questions.

DirecTV accounts are tied to the name/SSN for lifetime and cannot be transferred, with the only exception being customer deceased and surviving spouse taking over. So DirecTV does not have a change of responsibility like AT&T services. My understanding is that DirecTV is country wide so can go with you, but AT&T services and what level they are can be address specific (plus of course cell phones are individual used, like kid moving out and taking line off parent's account).
