Vizio M3D550SR not working with channel 104 -CINE 3D

My TV works great with all the 3D channels except 104 (CINE3D). I get the message that my TV does not support 1080p/24 content. I have done the following:

1. unchecked 1080p in the system setup

2. turned off 'native' in the system setup.

I sometimes get the message on the other channels, however they play fine afer displying the message. Only 104 will not play at all. The screen is blank.

What would cause that one channel to have problems?

104 is a PPV channel. The other channels don't feed 1080p. Unchecking 1080p should fix that error message even if the TV does not actually support 1080p which yours should anyway. Is the H22 connected directly to the TV with an HDMI cable?

I got a note from one of the tech guys at DirecTV.

"Vizio has some EDID issues. (part of the HDMI protocol) Their engineering dept knows about it but some of these TVs can't be upgraded via a memory stick. There's some changes in the HD user interface that may help..."

See if your model can do a firmware upgrade. As the note says, some cannot. I guess changes in the HD UI mean the TV's 3D menu options.

It works now!  Laughing

DirecTV provided an upgrade to my receiver last night which seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the update. I guess those changes the tech guy mentioned addressed the issue.

I am having the same problem with my vizio M3D420SR.  Is there a way to force the receiver to upgrade?  I haven't received the one steveap1 got.

You need to wait. The new firmware has to be cleared for your receiver before it can load. There is a way to force a download but it will only be a copy of the same firmware you have now until your receiver is marked for the download of the HD GUI.
