Want to disconnect service now that ESPN, Disney and ABC are gone.

Want to disconnect service now that ESPN, Disney and ABC are gone.

I am unable to get anyone on the phone or online to speak with directly about this. DirecTV has gone straight down the tubes and continues to hemorrhage customers every quarter to the tune of hundreds of thousands.

There are better services for MUCH less money.

Unfortunately, that is correct. It (Edited per community guidelines), but it is how it is done, much to most folks dismay. This is how the TV providers make money

Dear Juniper defender of Directv:   You must realize that the "few channels that are missing" are by far overweighted in watch-time in my household and I would bet in the entire country. To me, its a 50% credit due, regardless of the 100 plus ridiculous channels Directv is offering. Directv packaged-up the deals to sell to customers, and the $20 dollar credit is an insult. As you know the entire country has been transitioning to other services that are cheaper and designed for whatever they want to watch. This fiasco will become a turning point in Directv's future existence. I've had this service for over 20 years and the reason I haven't explored other services is because what we have is easy, and exploring other avenues is bothersome. That's it. Now we have SEC football, ESPN network, Disney network and US Open blacked out, and the list goes on. If the product is worth more to Disney, then so be it. Directv will pass that on to the customers one way or the other.  This customer isn't going to wait much longer. If Directv settles and moves the increase to the customer, the customer will weigh the increase how they see fit, and will either stay or leave Directv.

Directv will hold out as long as their customers are not cancelling. There is going to be a tipping point, and unfortunately, the customers

that cancel will be the sacrificial lambs that will make Directv agree to terms.

Yes, Disney and ESPN are gone, you people are forgetting that ABC is also gone.  ABC is a local channel.  Funny thing is that they tell you to go get the ABC app.  Well the ABC app is no longer available after Sept 23rd '24.

Also FOX, another local channel is also gone (has been gone for 18 months, and is no longer even in the guide lineup).  2 of the 4 local channels are now GONE!!!

What's next?.... NBC and CBS?

I'm getting ready to dump DTV altogether, and go back to my more costly Xfinity.  At least that way, I know, I'll get what I pay for.

You can't blame all this entirely on Disney or Fox,  DTV and AT&T are also to blame.  How long does it really take to negotiate a new contract?  You'd think that a few extra dollars a month charging customers for programming is cheaper than all the credits they are having to pay out.

Solution:  DTV, take the hit, regain the channels and pass the cost on to the consumer.  Put on the bill the price increase is from Disney so the consumer knows where the blame lies.  Holding out too long for a better deal will spell disaster for DTV

@bcbsncjlj     I disagree.  If this dispute goes on for the next few weeks, DTV will see a dramatic reduction in their customer base.  It may then be too late for DTV to recover.

They lose a few subscribers but they will recover in the end

Then when the next streaming service gets hit with Disney, they will pick up subscribers. It's always been like this and will continue

Will be cancelling real soon if Disney/ESPN not back with Direct Tv. I don’t care who is to blame. Get a deal done.

Just received a “Keep up to date on Sports” email from Direct Tv. Ironic how they don’t even have ESPN. If not settled real soon, I’m cancelling so I can go to a source with ESPN. Need it for college football. I don’t care who to blame. Get a deal done.

I, like all ACES, are not employees. Only the moderators are employed. We all just need to chill out and let the negotiation finish. Meantime, everyone should take the YTTV free 21-day free trial offer and enjoy the content

Bye then.

All TV providers collect anonymous viewer data so no one knows where yours is.  DTV doesn't know or cares what you watch.
