When projecting DirecTV I get the message HDMI output not supported

When streaming DirecTV from my phone, it works fine until I connect to a projector (lightning cable to HDMI). It projects for a second but then I get the message HDMI output not supported yet the sound still comes through the projector. After this happens the video stops on my phone. I can project all other apps (DisneyPlus, Netflix) just not DirecTV

Hey, @Krio99. We're here to help with this streaming concern.

Thanks to @Aero49 for the help!

As they said, that feature isn't allowed with DIRECTV service. Let us know if you have anymore questions or concerns we can help with!

The DirecTV app is designed to not allow play on other devices such as TVs and projectors. This is because they want you to have a receiver for each TV, projector, viewing location.

(Edited per community guidelines) Pretty expensive service to not allow what other services provide. Looks like I’ll be going back to Comcast. Thanks so much for the info!

@Krio99

The DirecTV app is for viewing on a mobile device only (smart phone/tablet). To watch on a TV you pay for that authorized TV on the service (projector counts).

So the app is a small perk for viewing on the go, not transferring to a bigger screen. You want to watch proper TV, you pay for it.

Remember DirecTV is NOT a streaming service. Things like Netflix, etc. are for streaming onto another device by their entire design. DirecTV is for a residential TV service that says put.
