Why am I still a customer? I couldn't find a FAQ to answer my question.
I don't understand why I'm still a customer; perhaps you can help. I pay over $100 each month for my DirecTV 'service', but what do I actually get? I get a preponderance of channels that I don't care about, and only a handful that I'm actually interested in. Of course this is the only way it's available. You force me to buy a prepackaged bundle that's padded with junk so that you can justify gouging me. (Not to mention all of your fees.) And what of the channels that I actually want? They're saturated, UTTERLY SATURATED, with commercials. Commercials are used to pay for programming by advertisers. So what am I paying YOU for?!? It's ludicrous. You provide no value! I'm just a sneeze away from replacing DirecTV with literally ANYTHING just for my own peace of mind. So once again my question, why am I still a customer??!

You needed a FAQ to figure out why you are still a customer? If true, then take a hard look inside as there are tougher questions in life.
To answer your actual grievance...
Netowrks package the channels they own to TV providers which requires them to package them to us. TV providers have before tried to get al-a-carte options, but so far the Networks have declined those options leaving us with how the TV industry is now as a whole.
Yes networks charge advertisers for their time space. If they didn't then they would charge the TV providers that much more, which would result in a higher bill for us customers.
So you either deal with the TV industry as it stands, or just go to antenna TV for whatever is in range.
