Why are all local channels streaming but national are not?

All of the local Kansas City stations for ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX appear to be streaming this morning while national channels such as CNN and CNBC are coming in perfectly through satellite?  You can't record streaming stations so there is no way to record major network programs.  What's going on?

Look at the highlighted banners on the home page and above your post. There is a major outage they are working to resolve. The streaming is a backup option Signal Saver when it cannot get those channels from the satellite.

Most of everything should be restored by now, and if not, by tonight the latest

Juniper, thanks for the response.  The satelliteguys.us website provided a lot more information about the problem than the banner you referenced on this site.  You can actually diagnose the problem yourself.  From your Directtv menu, select "Settings", "Satellite", and "View Signal Strength".  That will show you which satellites and transponders are operating and at what signal strength.  Good to periodically check to see how well your dish sees the satellites.

@Bosco It was a nationwide outage problem that started yesterday.

@Bosco

The banners confirmed issue on their end. So doing any further diagnostic on the receiving (your) end wouldn't help fix the current issue. Though it is certainly good to use to check your signal readings for an alignment concern when there isn't a known outage.

But now that they've resolved the problem channels should be back up now, or very shortly if anything is finishing up provisioning. Hopefully we don't see this again as it was quite the doozy.
