Why is CBS broadcasting The Bold and the Beautiful in Spanish?

It is likely an issue with your local TV station.

DTV has no control over what a channel sends them.

Probably a programming glitch and nothing that DTV can control or fix easily. All that you can TRY for now is refreshing your receiver online or giving it a quick reset as it could just be a simple glitch with the receiver. Although this probably isn’t going to work, it’s worth a SHOT until your local CBS station fixes the problem. 

It is also possible that your TV station broadcasts Spanish in a SAP audio channel and your receiver is switched to use SAP.  Either the channel could have just started Spanish SAP and you've had SAP turned on for a while, or your SAP setting just got turned on for the Receiver.

How do I check my SAP settings?

For model HR34 or below please follow these steps:

1.     Press MENU on your DIRECTV remote control
2.     Select SETTINGS & HELP
3.     Select SETTINGS
4.     Select AUDIO
5.     Choose LANGUAGE and select your preferred language

For above models (HR44-HS17 + clients)

1. PRESS MENU ON YOUR DIRECTV REMOTE

2. PRESS THE DOWN ARROW UNTIL YOU SEE THE MENU AFTER ‘APPS’.

3. SCROLL TO THE RIGHT UNTIL YOU SEE ‘SOUND.’

4.PRESS ‘SOUND’ and be sure that it is set to English in ALL 3 categories.

I’ve already tried that. It did not help. 😓

did you ask your local station?

I contacted the local station. They said they have implemented an equipment upgrade which is now sending The Bold and the Beautiful in SAP. There is an SAP button on the remote that I was told to press during the show next time it runs. Thanks for all of your comments.

So…I’m still having the problem with Bold and Beautiful broadcasting in Spanish. I have contacted the local station 3 times, LG one time, and directTV 3 times. They all seem to think it’s not their issue. Very frustrating. 

If it is just CBS experiencing the problem, then the issue is most likely with the feed CBS sends to DirecTV. Though not impossible there is an issue on DirecTV's end receiving the feed. Since CBS mentioned they equipment upgrade, I'm guessing something needs to be adjusted between the two to get them back in sync.

Do you have any friends/neighbors with DirecTV that you could check to see if they are having the problem with that exact channel? That way you can eliminate if the problem might be with your specific equipment.

But for a temporary fix until your local station fixes the issue, simply set up an over the air ANTENNA to your TV’s antenna input and scan for the CBS channel. That way you will not have to watch it in Spanish.

I asked DirecTV to get in touch with my local station so both techies can hopefully resolve the issue. I don't know of anyone else in my area that has DirecTV, however, I asked a friend who had Dish Network and she said it's coming in in English. Makes we wonder if it's pointing the finger back to DirecTV.

CBS does not come in on my antenna TV, so I have been watching it on my iPad.

Though the content is the same, it is a separate feed to each TV provider. So the issue is somewhere between CBS and DirecTV.
