Can't delete a show from Receiver 1 because it says Receiver 2 is viewing
This issue just started happening. We had had same equipment for 6 years.
We have 3 receivers and 1 Genie. I watch on "1" and when I am finished the message reads that "cannot delete the show because it is being watched on "2"". No one is using or watching on "2". So I have to switch to 2, and the program is there, so I have to fast forward and then delete it from 2. We can use any receiver from any room/tv in the house.
I have tried calling customer service multiple times-they have no clue. They sent me a new genie, still same problem.
Is there a setting I can change?

Hi u/pmarszoo. We want you to have a smooth experience while using the service. We can help you to solve this issue with the recorded shows. Let's turn off the playlist-sharing settings:
1. Go to any TV in the Whole-Home network and press MENU on your remote control.
2. Select Settings & Help > Settings > Whole-Home > Share Playlist.
3. From this menu, you can change the Share Playlist setting. You can also select which receivers can delete shows from the playlist.
Find more information here: https://www.directv.com/support/satellite/article/KM1009954. Let us know if it works. Sergio, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Thank you for the quick response.
The whole home share playlist option is only available from receiver 1/satellite 1 as its named in the system. On this receiver 1 its already set up to share playlist-yes and allow deletion from- all rooms.
This did not solve the problem. Any other suggestions?

Try resetting your main DVR using the red reset button near the access card.
What are the model numbers of your boxes?

If those 3 boxes have model starting with C then they are not receivers but Mini Genies which are Clients. They require the main box in order to work as they are extensions of it, each stealing a tuner.
What is suggested is to after verifying coax is finger tight to each box, is to do a red button reset one at a time. Do the Genie first, when completed then each Client in turn. If you have any actual receivers, do them next. Hopefully this will clear up any communication issues in the chain that was locking the tuner in the status of being watched.
If that doesn't work, you can go a step further and unplug power from all boxes. Keep them off for a couple minutes to be sure cached memory is cleared. Then power them back on, same order, one at a time. Unlike the simple reset, this clears the guide data so that may take a day or 2 to be fully loaded again.
