how many different Direct TV boxes are in the field and date of issue- am having prob connecting to new Yamaha receiver
Just got a new Yamaha receiver and having trouble setting it up- confused about how the connections between the Dvd direct tv box , and TV and receiver should be and which type of audio output/input cable I should be using.
thanks

@Shuzanne
How does knowing how many different model boxes and their "issue" (manufactured?) date that are out in the field help you get everything setup? Seems like a different conversation entirely. And that info would be their business inventory, so not something available to the general public as none of our business.
What is the model of box you are having problems with? What TV set and DVD player do you have? Knowing what you have will allow others to help you get it connected correctly.
And to protect yourself against scams out there, the brand is DirecTV, not Direct TV.

Very nice list. Though doubtful all are "in the field" as the OP wanted to know (unless they meant in use, not on the trucks, as some people still have a few old ones working while the MPEG-2 shutdown completes).
Does HR54R1 count as another model? Redesign to a cheaper looking box and eSATA port removed. Though Genie-2 (HS17) removed eSATA as well, they didn't add R1 to the model number when they did that which seems an error.
Then there are the Hughes, Panasonic, etc. that are limping along. Boxes before DirecTV unfied design instead of each contracted manufacture doing their own thing. Naturally these are all obsolete as predating the 'D' models.

@Juniper
Yes, the HR54R1 should definitely have been on my list. Thanks for the catch.
Ya, most of them aren’t likely ‘in the field’ anymore. I’d say only the HR54, HS17, HR24, H25, and genie clients are still in the field (usually).

What's your model # Yamaha AVR? are you using a 4K tv? HDMI output of DTV Hdrvs is 1.4 so if your AVR is 2.1 or 2.3 --You may need to go into your AVR HDMI setting -to select standard for that AVR port --if you're having connections issues.
That why the model # of your AVR and all DTV Receivers should be listed as well as anything else you are connecting HDMI. That is if your AVR has hdmi inputs.
More information please

Normally with that scenario you would have your DirecTV and your DVD player connected to separate HDMI inputs on your AV receiver and then you would have another HDMI going from the AV receiver to your TV HDMI ARC input assuming your TV has ARC.

@Juniper ahh yes the z11, I remember the sat go very well, ask a current Rep, trainer or manager about the sat go and they would have absolutely no clue it ever existed 😆🤣
