How to Lose ATT Commercials when on pause?
I pay for DTV service like everyone else which is essentially COMMERCIAL TV. The last thing I want to see n pause are ATT commercials for a service I ALREADY PAY FOR. To make matters even more irritating, with my mini genie setup when I press any key to exit, the commercials resume if I don’t hit play soon enough. THEN, when I do hit Play, I lose 3-5 seconds of audio so I have to rewind to hear what I missed. I find this intolerable. I pay for a service AND get bombarded by more adds and then have to rewind to get audio! Unbelievably bad.

the only way to avoid the commercials is to disconnect your services from the internet, unfortunately this will also disable on demand and movie rentals and purchases

This is NOT an acceptable solution. Please elevate my complaint to management. It’s bad enough your paying customers are used in your negotiations with holders of broadcast licenses when channels are pulled for weeks at a time, but now we have this TOTALLY UNNECESSARY inconvenience on top of it? How about a little regard for those of us paying YOUR bills?

This is a customer to customer forum with little contact with DTV so can't do anything about your request.

“little contact with DTV” on a forum titled “TV Forum > DIRECTV > Watching DIRECTV. Seriously?
As a formerly ATT employee I know that senior management is very interested in user input on their products, especially when they could be losing said users.

This is not a customer support avenue. This is a public forum for customers discussing with each other. There is no forwarding to management here. So yes seriously there is little contact in the sense you want.
Disconnecting from internet is the only way to remove the advertisement screen saver on the pause screen. You may not find it acceptable, but that is the option. It was an open spot for marketing other programming, so they are using it. If it bugs you, unpause or go do something else while it is paused.

Thank you for your “solution”. I have found a better solution for half the price which provides all the content currently provided. It’s called YouTube TV. Thank you for your help.

This forum is all about customer to customer discussion. Badges are just a method to encourage participation for some like other forum or other outlets. The badges are certainly not my motivation. Many of us do try to help each out. Sometimes that is just pointing out the reality of the situation, even if it is not the answer you desire. Sorry but sometimes you don't get exactly what you want.
