List of What Satellite a Direct TV channel is on?

Checking signal strength is good, but means nothing if I do not know what channel or even better channel/transponder a specific channel is on.

There should be a list of channels with their satellite assignments, with transponder,  so you cancheck that satellite and signal strength for a given channel.

For example, with a 400 Mbps Ethernet connection, when I rewind and stream I get pixeling on channel 568, Sony HD.

I can not find a list anywhere.

Satellite is beamed from the sky (geosynchronous orbit). Streaming is from your internet. The rewind/restart from beginning pulls from the internet (On Demand library for the channel). That is why your satellite signal has absolutely nothing to do with streaming issues.

From what you've described you have good internet at home. This means either the stream is degrading before it gets to your home network or an issue with the upload from the channel's servers. As a note, unlike traditional streaming providers that adjust resolution and such on the fly to account for occasional blips in internet between them and you, the streaming features for DirecTV do not work that way being a secondary perk. They stream at full resolution with no adjustment so are more affected by those blips. This can happen more these days since the pandemic as the shift to home use (work, school, etc.) has put more stress on the infrastructures nationwide that they were not built for.

Unfortunately, this means there really is no fix. Certainly, refreshing the HR44 and even your router for a fresh connection could be tried. It is hoped that both internet companies and the government are working on improving the nationwide infrastructure with the weakness seen with that usage shift. I would also hope that the new co-owner of DirecTV will work on future equipment to better work with the internet (even though it is not the primary delivery method).

As a side note, the Genie can only support up to 3 clients at the same time as 2 of the 5 tuners are reserved to itself for Picture in Picture (PiP). And anything recording is using a tuner of course. If you ever have the opportunity, I suggest replacing your 4th client with a regular HDDVR, so you can use the full service you are paying for.

You can't have the HR44 connected to the internet with 2 methods remove one of them. Since you have the HR44 hard wired then the WiFi speed has nothing to do with the problem.

Make sure you don't have an old wireless CCK on the cabling from before you did the upgrade to the Genie (HR44). The internal CCK, regardless of if you used the wired (preferred) or wireless option, should be the only connection you are using.

Hi @rlmyers, we are here to help with your pixelation issue.

In order to rule out any specific issue to your DVR, could you please confirm if this channel is also pixelated at the moment of streaming on another device?

We'll be here for you.

I tried the rewind and play on my other devices on the network and all of them had pixels, picture breakup.  There seems to be an issue with DTV rewind, stream, and play feature.

DTV needs to look at this.

DTV has no control over your internet when using start from the beginning/On Demand and they can't fix it either.

DirecTV boxes are not optimized for internet connection as they are for receiving service from satellite primarily.

On the other side since DirecTV is NOT a streaming provider, the channel's On Demand library including restart from the beginning are uploaded at full resolution with no adjustment to the stream to account for bandwidth fluctuations.

I agree those options need improvement, but at this point I doubt a software update on the existing boxes will do it. Hopefully the new co-owner will look into innovating boxes again that are more focused for customer options, not simplified for the company to be an all-in-one fit all whether you like it or not setup.
