movie purchase/rent
The movie I am trying to watch says it is $19.99 to purchase, but when I went to actually purchase the movie it says it is $24.99!! How is it different? AND, as a LONG time customer of DirecTv, paying $300 per month for service, am I entitled to some free purchases or rentals?
This may be a suggestion to keep customers because I have talked to several people in the past 2 months, including myself, that have told me that everything with DirecTv is going up in price and are considering moving to a different service for their provider or strictly using the online version for everything.
I have the best package possible and pay $300 per month, yet I have to pay an additional expense for many of the movies I try to rent.

Additionally, if that’s the case, then why is it random. Some I record r free n some here n there aren’t. I certainly understand what u r saying, but again just doesn’t sound all that kosher to me , nor any of the directv staff. They seem to have no idea why it’s happening. Until directv can explain n justify they r aware n not negotiating with the network (s) on our behalf, I will continue asking for credits. Perhaps if we all did, directv would do what we’re paying them for.

There are 2 ways to stop recording On Demand, first remove all series that you used Search to set up and use the guide to find the program and press record twice then select record reruns or disconnect the internet to the DTV receiver.
You are charged only when you watch the program so why would you believe you should be credited?

I’ve actually not used search. Initially, I just recorded the one n asked if u wanted to record the series. Ive done same for several other shows n this has never happened before. I’ve recorded every Seinfeld n Office episodes, for example n never asked to pay anything beyond what I’m already paying for those channels. Why r we paying directv to watch those networks that want to charge n pay these networks instead. Maybe im thinking “old school “, but I’ve been a loyal customer since everything was old school n i expect directv to hear me/us n take care of their customers.
ok im done. Good luck everyone!!

DTV is only collecting what the channel charges you for their programs. No idea why On Demand is being recorded if you didn't use search to set it up, try a red button reset.

You are only charged if you choose to watch the PPV. Downloading it doesn't cause the charge, only watching it where you have to accept the charge. If you do that then no credit is justified as you accepted the charge. If you didn't accept the PPV, then there is no charge to credit in the first place.
The On Demand content being recorded in the mix should only happen if you used any method to set the recording other than going into the guide on the box. By doing through the guide, you are recording specifically on that channel alone. I agree that recording via the search option should be improved so you can designate a specific channel or at least exclude PPVs.
So go into manage recordings, delete all scheduled recordings, then go into guide and press the record button on an episode on the exact channel you want. Press the record button a second time to switch from episode to series. This is the only method that guarantees it is on that channel alone.
We are paying DirecTV for satellite channels. On Demand is an additional perk and it is up to the individual channels what is free and what is PPV from that method.
Alternatively disconnect your box from the internet, reset network defaults, and never think about those episode PPVs ever again.
The problem with 'old school' is you are refusing to acknowledge and accept that content FROM INTERNET and NOT FROM SATELLITE works differently.

That is exactly how I set up recording. I never ever used search to record any episodes of this program. I have never purchased anything from PPV since it was became available . I’ve barely even purchased a movie in the 30 odd years since contracting the service.

Pressing record twice in the guide is for recording the series only on that channel. If by doing that it is pulling from other channels then there is a technical (software) issue as that is not how it is supposed to work.
I would still clear all scheduled recordings and then do at least a red button reset. Though you may consider unplugging power for a couple minutes to allow cached memory to drain to see if that clears the bug. Be aware with the full power cycle the guide has to download again.
But you will not be charged for anything as long as you don't accept the purchase of a PPV regardless if it is already recorded or not. You have to go through a couple acceptance clicks. Recording first only means you don't have to wait on the download (if from internet) so you get your full rental time but doesn't purchase it until accepted.
