Programming

I have been a Directv for decades. We are movie fans... it seems the same movies are run over & over & over... they jump from on channel to the other... Once a DTV representative told me to contact the specific channel e.g. HBO, Discovery, etc.  Well, I did that with no response.    Seems to me that Directv must buy/rent movies from the various channels and then program them according.  THe point is....  DIRECTV PROGRAMMNG IS NO WORTH THE COST WHICH KEEPS GOIN UP AND UP... I HAVE ADDED MOVIE CHANNELS HOPING FOR SOME IMPROMENT BUT THEY ARE ALL THE SAME..... ALSO.... DAYS OF ONE TV SERIES IS AWFUL... SEEMS LIKE SINCE OTHER METHODS OF people watching/streaming TV, that the selections on DTV has gotten worse and worse and more expensive and more expensive....  I live in a very rural area and streaming is not an option...  So, the bottom line is DTV has become less service, choices, options, movies at higher prices.....  I assume DTV has lost a lot of customers so cannot afford to change movies as they should....and then raise the cost of the now substandard services..... what is going on with DTV... I hate to change to DISH, but they say they offer more..........  WHAT IS WRONG WITH DTV?

I'm sorry. But why would you think DirecTV has any control over the content of its channels? They just deliver what the channels provide. That's the same with Dish Network and all other TV providers.

If DTV is a customer of HBO, Starz, etc. they are paying to access their programs/movies to air on DTV.   Seems that, as the Customer, DTV would have some options, requirements, or say-so in what they are getting for their dollar.    Unless, of course, HBO, etc are letting DTV air their channel for free.

Sorry, but that's not how it works. HBO, etc., decide what shows and movies to provide,  not the satellite or cable companies.  You, as an HBO subscriber, have more of a say than DirecTV does. Voice your complaints to those networks.

TV Providers pay to carry a channel. They have no say on what programming and/or commercials the channel has.

Changing to Dish does not change what a channel has. They provide the same content to each TV provider that has them.

This is how the TV industry is setup. Just like we customers have no control over what is on a channel.

Seems if I pay for something I would have say so or at least input into what I get for my money....  just like most places that you buy something , they want your input... give them a rating or fill out their satisfaction survey... thanks for input............                                                                        hmmm I still have a DVD player.. Maybe I will just go antenna and DVDS.... I guess most people must not mind watching the same movies over & over... (except when they advertise it's free to attract people to take those channels...) then they play better stuff...

TV providers will carry a channel if it is profitable regardless of content. That perceived value would naturally be brought up during carriage negotiations.

We customers pay for our TV delivery method. All TV providers have in their Terms of Service (ToS) that channels and their programming may change at any time. That clause is needed because they don't own the channels or have any control over the content.

If you don't like your selection of channels, then you either change the package or switch providers depending which is the better fit for you. We do not have any direct input in the channels a TV provider carriers or with the channels on the programming they carry. The networks have their own research and choices to what programming they will show.

TV industry has been this way for decades.
