RV Satillite- Network channels

Is there a way to receive the network channels with my Trav’ler dish on my Motorhome ?

I have the H24 receiver I think.
I’m not at the RV right now.

Hi there. You are trying to get on-demand? I am confused on your reference to network channels. Also, what is your receiver model? The H24 does not support on demand because it doesn't have DVR functionality.

I think he's talking about the DNS channels. These are the four main networks transmitted on national beams rather than the spotbeamed locals. Theyb are only available to someone with a separate RV account, not someone who is using in the RV a receiver that is part of a "home" account.

ok, yes, you would need special permission from DIRECTV to receive the channels like 390 and 9531. I believe that people who are in-between certain specific regions that are kind of in a black area will usually receive these DNS channels. I also know that most aircraft DIRECTV accounts get these local channels because they are flying between several spot beams.

@Jhunt1, just bring an OTA antenna with you in your RV. DIRECTV no longer allows customers to change their service address. Also, DIRECTV will not make an exception of giving you DNS channels if you are already in a spot beam matching the locals for your area.

Not anymore unfortunately. Locals lobbied Congress and won, so the STELAR Act was not allowed to renew. So you can only receive locals for your service address, and only while within that spot beam of course. You would need to take a regular antenna with you.

If you had a separate RV only account, then you might still be able to get those DNS channels. But that would be paying for an entire other package and everything so would be a bit costly to go that route just for DNS.

Yes, those are called the big four DNS channels. (9531, 9532, 9533, 9534)

I believe they are also located around channel 390 and you need special permission from DIRECTV to get them.

See my post earlier. detuch254 your info is out of date. You will only be allowed these DNS channels if you have a separate RV account

oh yes I forgot about that. The OP will need two separate accounts in order to get the DNS channels. One for your house and one for the RV.

AFAIK no TV provider has access to the DNS channels except for the few that signed a new contract with the networks for them and DTV has done this but it is only some East coast areas. Don't know if DTV offers RV accounts any more as the sole reason for it was to get the DNS channels.
