Show ratings by dtv subscribers?

How do we get dtv to add a show rating menu tab on the info guide? I want them to track watcher thumbs up and down by dtv subscribers directly in the guide.

Satellite transmission is one-way. They don't get info back on that signal, so a menu option to thumbs up/down would only be for personal use not going back to them.

In any case a new co-owner has taken the reigns for DirecTV. They probably have a lot more other endeavors that take higher priority right now.

DTV doesn't have Thumbs up or down buttons on the remotes that is TiVo.

Juniper - most DVRs are on the internet, like mine, that's 2-way.  This rating issue has been open issue for a long time now - at least 10 years open.

Shannon02 - none of them do, but the need to be added in sw, not on the remote.  You can use the color bottoms for example.

You are not interpreting the term ‘2-way’ correctly. Your receiver connected to the Internet is a result of an ISP, NOTHING to do with the satellite connection. If you had no internet connection (just the satellite transmission), the receiver would be unable to get on-demand, PPV, ‘watch from beginning’, etc.

detuch254 - IK, this is to record the rating only from the DTV subscriber on their DVR, it just goes back to DTV over the internet (not Sat), not the guide vendor.  This is a DTV request. This is easily done on the internet.  Then DTV augments the guide download from the SAT with updated ratings - say like same frequency as the guide update is today.

Satellite transmission is one-way. Internet connected is for secondary perks, not the focus of their service. As such a thumbs up/down system like TiVO has not been expected, through asked about by a small set of customers.

So it has never been a priority for them. Now with AT&T passing on to the new co-owner, it probably has even less chance now as there are other more important issues to address.

DTV receivers only send anonymous viewing data to DTV.
