Maybe. Technically that's a violation of DirecTV service agreement, however. But some folks do it.

To specifically answer your question, it depends on what DVR model you have at home. If you have an HS17 Genie Server with Genie Mini Client boxes, then you cannot have a second DVR. Likewise, if you have an HR44/HR54 Genie DVR, you cannot have a second Genie DVR box and would need to get an HR2X HD DVR, which is hard to do these days. And, of course, you would need to install a DirecTV satellite dish at the Florida location, something that DirecTV won't do for you.

You may want to explore changing to DirecTV Stream service. It's much more friendly when it comes to use at multiple locations since all of the recordings are stored in the cloud and the service can be accessed from multiple streaming devices.

No, at least not legally. Per the terms of service, service is only delivered to one address. You would need another account at that address to comply with terms of service. Now if you just activate another receiver on your account in Ct and just use it in Fl, Directv may never know but you probably won’t receive any local channels. Just FYI, you do not need a DVR, any satellite receiver can be used. Also, you may not be able to activate another DVR on your account, depending on what model genie you have.

Hi @cpopowski thank you for bringing this to our attention.

@litzdog911 and @sandblaster Thanks for your help and prompt responses.

The DIRECTV service account is only good for your home location, in case we have a second home it will be necessary to create a new account for that address.

Remember that to watch TV outside your home, you can use the DIRECTV app to watch live TV, or download recordings to your device while you're at home to take with you. Check more details here.

Let us know if you additional questions.

Simple answer is no, you need a separate account which will have its own equipment. You can suspend each account up to 6 months within a 12 month period so you only pay for the account you are using.

The physical service address determines what locals you are allowed per Federal regulations, the viewing market you are in for professional sport teams, and the taxes you are required to pay. And as I recall, Florida is one of a couple states where they charge a communications tax for satellite on top of regular taxes.
