What is recorded on the DVR is viewable on the DVR itself. If you have a 2nd gen Genie (HR44) or later, you can temporarily (up to 30 days) copy to a mobile device via the DirecTV app for viewing on the mobile device itself (an option for travel).
DirecTV is a satellite provider, not intended for full streaming of satellite specific service. There is some online streaming if you log into your account, essentially a version of On Demand, but not for accessing what is on the DVR itself. A way to prevent unauthorized copying.
@Juniper You sure? There used to be a windows based client that let you watch recordings. I know I’ve still got it on my old windows vista computer, though not sure if it still works. Even if it does, I have no idea if it will work on windows 10. I’m sure I have the program somewhere, I may give it a try on windows 10.
The old software still lingers (saw some of it on my old laptop), but it stopped working quite some time ago. They have removed options for streaming from DVR in recent years, such as doing away with Nomad/GenieGo and the equivalent that was in Mobile DVR for a time.
Let us know if it works and how well. Curious if they will every official return similar options or if the plan is that it is gone for long haul.
Thanks for the responses. I actually thought it was available and just couldn't figure out something obvious I was missing, so I tried a chat widow. They switched me from a billing expert to a tech expert who told me I couldn't do it on my computer, but could on my cell phone. I haven't quite got that working, but it won't break my heart if I can't. I did think that in the past I had a window I could watch my shows on. But maybe it was when I had Uverse. Thanks again
