DTV has no control over what Discovery does with their programs on their channels.

Directv isn’t going to do anything. Discovery plus is a separate streaming service that has nothing to do with Directv. You can’t get Discovery plus through Directv.

@Scottmj9

DirecTV has nothing to do with Discovery+ so they don't have to do anything.

Well here is the thing I am well aware that DTV doesn't control Discovery plus. What they do however is pay them for access to their programing and in turn we pay Directv to view it. Now we don't get to see new programming but we still are paying the same. Now Discovery plus wants us to pay more to see what we were watching just months ago. So maybe the solution is to cancel my directv if they don't flex their power of the purse with the Discovery network.

DTV has a contract with the channels so they have to pay them what ever it calls for regardless of what they provide to them so they can't do anything until it is up.

So basically (Edited per community guidelines). You sure play the defense for DTV / AT&T they must give you some nice free service. Well I am not in a contract with them and will more than likely be cancelling my service. I do hope all of the streaming services are the final blow to the cable providers if this is how much they give a (Edited per community guidelines).

@Scottmj9 It has nothing to do with defending anything, it’s simply understanding how things work. Your concept that Directv can somehow demand that Discovery include all of their D+ content is simply not how things work. Not sure why you would hope streaming services kill off cable and satellite. Even though it probably will, there are still many people without internet. For many, satellite is the only option.

Discovery+ (Plus) is a streaming service run by Discovery itself. It is not provided to TV providers as is their own paid service.

There is no defending here, only explaining how it works.

Yes again I am quite aware of how it  all works. When the  negotiations DTV has with Discovery come around again they should fight hard on the behalf of everybody who has been shortchanged who still pay for DTV but are now not getting almost no new content from their channels.  Maybe DTV sending out something to it customers to that affect. To those of you who respond who have nothing critical to say of the process is even more disturbing. I am not one to lay down for something that is obviously bad for us consumers who either lose content or pay more for the same thing they already had. Just check the comments on  Facebook, Instagram, and other social media outlets who have the exact same complaints as I.  Again dont try to write this off as some industry workings that us "yokels just dont comprehend". Its pretty simple to see whats going on. As for me I am done talking on this forum. It clearly has no viable feed back.

Let's hope ALL providers, Spectrum, Frontier, Dish, Infinity, etc. also "...fight hard on the behalf of everybody who has been shortchanged who still pay...but are now not getting almost no new content from their channels."

No one is writing anything off. Just because we’re not as enraged as you are doesn’t mean we don’t care at all. I, for one, don’t know what D+ is offering that is unique to their streaming service, so for me there is nothing to get upset about. As more and more of these streaming services surface, more of this type of thing will happen. Who knows, D+ could fail if they don’t get enough subscribers or maybe they’ll offer a cheaper subscription to anyone who gets their programming via satellite or cable. Would you pay Directv an extra $1-$2 to get that exclusive content?

To sanblaster :

I think I would pay an extra $1 or $2 for access to that content without having another streaming service. That's the best suggestion I have heard so far!

I'm mad that they moved Dr. Pimplepopper to Discovery+.

IMHO Discovery moving that I assume are their best programs from DTV and I assume from all other providers seems to indicate they aren't thinking about returning when the contracts come up.
