go to directv.com/local. type in your zip code and see if the channel is available in your area

Local channels are not the same across the country. So you move and you get different locals is the reality. Same with Regional Sport Networks (RSN). Comes down to locals and RSNs are determined by where you live.

Check www.directv.com/locals to see what is available for your now live.

That is only partly true because WOW, Frontier and Dish all offer Metv so I think Directv is just being cheap.  Metv is also offered on regular tv in my area but my only tv is hooked up to satellite and unable to access regular channels on my tv.

Think the only way to solve is to buy a second tv and set it up with an antenna but what a drag and expense that should not be unnecessary if Directv was really into servicing their customers.

Some DirecTV customers do get METV, but others do not (such as myself). In many areas METV is carried on a sub-channel, something that DirecTV mostly doesn't carry in the first place.

If METV is in your area, but DirecTV doesn't carry it, then a regular antenna to get the free broadcast would be the option. You don't need to buy a second TV just for METV. Just change inputs between DirecTV and antenna as you desire.

Your response is appreciated but it does not excuse Directv from offering a channel that their competitors provide in Clearwater, FL where I live.

DirecTV is under no obligation to provide every possible channel out there. So they don't need to be excused as they are not doing anything wrong.

In many areas where METV broadcasts, it is on a sub-channel which is something DirecTV doesn't carry. There are apparently areas out there that it is not a sub-channel and it is provided. I am one of the areas where METV is carried by a local affiliate, but on one of their sub-channels, as such I don't get through DirecTV itself.

If the channel is something you cannot stand to be without, then either use a regular antenna to get the free broadcast (including any other channels within range you might not be getting), or switch to a provider that carries it. Though a nice convenience not to switch inputs by having it through your chosen provider, I personally didn't go to pay TV for my free over-the-air locals.
