DirecTV cancelling Newsmax

I am a 12 year subscriber to DirecTV & have had AT&T cell service for 15 years. I am EXTREMELY disappointed that DirecTV is cancelling Newsmax—the last (Edited per community guidelines) news channel. If this is not resolved with Newsmax being restored I will be cancelling my subscriptions.

Long time customer of both Directv and AT&T. I have already canceled Directv service for other reasons, but would again, still be canceling Directv service for canceling Newsmax. The promotion of Woke ideology and unfair opposition to (Edited per community guidelines) thought is bad enough, but the double standard and strong support that both AT&T and Directv provide to (Edited per community guidelines) programming and to other, less viewership channels is a violation of free speech and poor business practice. If this isn't quickly resolved to include Newsmax programming at a fair and equitable fee, I will be canceling my AT&T service as well.

Hey,

Just to let you know that I was considering switching from Spectrum to directv but after you woke liberals dropped Newsmax I will absolutely never subscribe to your services and never invest in your company or at&t's!
I have contacted my local political representatives and told them I want you guys dragged into a hearing and explain yourselves!
I hope I get to see you biased (Edited per community guidelines) squirm on live TV.
Looking forward to you losing subscribers,
Tom

I have been an AT&T U Verse customer for ten years and I am angry with the withdrawal of Newsmax and One America News from your Programming lineup.

This affects me unlike your removal of other channels over the years. If this program cancellation isn't reversed, I will be changing my TV service to another provider.

You have gone one step too far and crossed a red line with me.

You cancelling Newsmax will ultimately make me cancel my cell service with you. Just giving you a heads up while I'm looking for another service.

This is not an airport, no need to announce your departure. Besides that you aren’t giving ATT a heads up, just other customers.

Why would you change phone providers? It's DirecTV you're mad at.

OttoPylot,

I understand the business end but as directv made huge profits (3.4 billion) and Newsmax is the 4th watched news outlet you would think they would keep them. That directv said we will not give you a penny says something other than money is involved. I wish I had all of the directv's channels viewer volumes but their comment makes me think something else is up. I believe Newsmax was asking 1 dollar per subscriber while directv is paying numerous other lower rated shows more. Example, according to the Nielsen ratings in 2022 cnbc was the 69th most watched channel. Directv has no problem paying them. Now Newsmax is 72 in the ratings. Disney channel is lower at 77. Disney Jr, Nick Jr , Showtime, The Weather Channel, Starz, Galavision, Court TV all are lower rated. I do not know all of what directv carries but it seems to me as Business 101 goes there are numerous other channels they should be dropping first.

Why do you get to decide what I watch?  This is absolutely outrageous!!  I have a family ATT plan and if you don't allow News Max to stay we are canceling the plan.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

I may have to drop ATT after 30 years of service. AT&T should not be taking political sides. Reinstate NEWSMAX

Why do the NewsMax posts keep disappearing? I have looked on this page multiple times and most of the posts are about NewsMax then they disappear. I saw at least 5 or 6 messages then they were deleted. Also the "Official" NewsMax topic has been closed which has made the latest post "age" and move to the 2nd page.

In these situations, all posts are merged into a Megathread   Since these posts don't require a response, the thread shows 'closed'.

It happened when Hallmark went away (it did come back later).  It happened when Newsmax went away.   75 posts about the same issue is not necessary so they get merged.

Shouldn't the "Mega Thread" be on the first page if it is as active as this topic? The same thing is happening on Twitter because this topic (of the NewsMax cancellation) is getting a lot of press in other locations. I can see if you want to put something in a "Mega Thread", but at least put it on the front page since it is getting the most activity.

Why are you dropping Newsmax.  You are involved in censorship of the news just like Twitter, Facebook, Google, DOJ, and the DNC.  If you don't restore Newsmax, I will end my business relationship of 40 years with AT&T.

You can watch NewsMax for free via their app and website.

Why would you want to pay for something you can get for free?

Please explain why DirectTV has deplatformed Newsmax when they have higher ratings and have asked for lower fees than many of the (Edited per community guidelines) news formats being offered.  It is especially disconcerting when this appears to be obeisance to far left (Edited per community guidelines) congressional representatives demands so that any adversarial opinions are removed.

AT&T will be adding FirstTV (F1rst TV) to the lineup soon and it's even more right leaning than Newsmax.

That doesn’t excuse deplatforming Newsmax, which is the 4th highest rated news platform.  There is still an overwhelming number more of (Edited per community guidelines) platforms and many are getting paid more than what Newmax is asking.  Why are you bowing down to the far left?  I know why they don’t want to compete in the arena of ideas.  Why is AT&T complicit to that?

AT&T is just a (Edited per community guidelines) service provider, not a sanctioned govrtnment censor. I want NEWSMAX back. Puleeze, do not attempt to claim that the decision did not come directly from the Deceptocrat office of John Stinky. For once, just do your dam jobs and give us what we pay for!!!

I appreciate the heads-up, but I think you misunderstand. We do not want right-wing for the sake of right wing. Their are right-wing lunatics that compliment the likes of CNN and MSBC as well. In contrast, the NEWSMAX shows we appreciated are thoughtful, honest, sensible, and cordial. They often invite opposing viewpoints to have meaningful discussions. However, ordinary Deceptocrats are out of their element when it comes to logic and reason. The only alternative they have is to name-call, gain-say, and cancel, which is what At&T now routinely engages in. They need to grow up and focus on doing their jobs for the consumer, not their political buddies.

Here is a statement from AT&T:

On multiple occasions, we made it clear to Newsmax that we wanted to continue to offer the network, but ultimately Newsmax’s demands for rate increases would have led to significantly higher costs that we would have to pass on to our broad customer base.

Anyone, including our customers, can watch the network for free via NewsmaxTV.com, YouTube.com and on multiple streaming platforms like Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and Google Play.

We continually evaluate the most relevant programming to provide our customers and expect to fill this available channel with new content.

Just taking my right to voice my opinion on dropping Newsmax! Without freedom of speech, AT&T would not exist! I will no longer support any AT&T platform!!!
