How do I access U-verse through my Roku
I signed up for ATT U-verse with a DVR for one TV in my home. I thought I could use my Roku device on a second TV and just my U-verse account on the second TV and not have to rent a second DVR. Is there an app on Roku to access U-verse?

Your Roku uses an internet connection doesn't it? If so can you connect an ethernet cable from the Roku to one of the yellow ethernet ports on the back of your gateway? If you want to use the Roku wirelessly you need to specify the gateway's ssid and password to the Roku (info on label stuck to the side of your gateway). Not having a Roku I don't know how you set the info in the Roku in the first place (I guess using the Roku's remote with the Roku menus shown on the tv screen).
Note, you can't rent another dvr anyway. Only one per address per gateway.
Also note, you won't be accessing uverse with this hookup. You will be accessing the internet and whatever Roku accesses that way. If you want uverse on another tv you need another att receiver (not dvr), $10/month. These usually are wireless receivers to access uverse and your (one) dvr.

The second TV is not close enough to use one of the yellow ports.
There is a DIRECT Now app I think, but it's not the same used and password as my ATT account.

I do not know why Roku does not have an Uverse app. They have a Charter Time Warner and a Comcast app. The only streaming box I have found that has the Uverse app is Fire TV from amazon. So the best thing to do is buy a fire tv steaming box.

To answer your question the Fire TV box works good. I have been happy with mine. They load your program faster then Roku or any other box. The programs load almost instantly they have a lot more features then the Roku Box.

I just got a Firestick for this exact reason. The Uverse app on there is TERRIBLE and I am sending my Firestick back because it's just not worth the trouble. I can't even watch all of the live channels that I watch on the Uverse app on my tablet. I would estimate about 1/3 of the live channels won't show up on the Firestick Uverse app. It's also not at all user friendly.

Use your phone or tablet to access the UVerse app on the same WiFi your Roku TV is on. Then, mirror your device (if it has this capability) to the TV.
RokuTV, Settings, System, Screen mirroring.

I agree about the FireTV stick being under powered. But, I found that the Uverse app on the newest FireTV (the pendant) seems to work fairly well. Although I noticed it crashes when you try to click on the network Showtime. I been meaning to write a trouble ticket about that.
I found that their are more and different video titles that you don't find elsewhere on the HBO networks section on the Uverse App. Such as Alien 3 extended version this month. You can tell this by the different running times. You don't find this on HBO Go or Uverse on demand. So the Uverse app on FireTV is worth having.
Be aware that the bit rate of the videos seems to be more like 1Mbs (or less) rather than 6Mbs that you are used to for HD on regular Uverse so the picture quality is not so good, more like standard definition but not too bad. The watch list of videos from FireTV is also shown and synced on the Uverse mobile app which is nice.
Fast forward controls seem not to work so well on the App. So the best you can do is pause. One of the reason I don't use the app that much. The app seems to be more of an android mobile app adapted to FireTV IMHO.

I’m a little disappointed that there is no Uverse app for Roku or other most other streaming boxes. One option you could consider is an Android TV box which you can get on amazon for less than $50. It basically turns your tv into an android tablet so you could download the regular Uverse android app.
Another option is is to just use the individual channel apps on Roku, for example ESPN, and sign in using your Uverse account.

@redhaven72, have you done that -- using individual channel apps on Roku? I have a Roku stick and can't get any channels to stream live, even though I'm signed in with my U-verse account. The apps say I don't have that channel with my subscription... but of course I do have them (talking really basic ones like ESPN, NBC, Fox). I have seen threads on here about that issue as well. It's a longstanding problem. I think there is a way to fix it, but I haven't seen anyone post a clear explanation ... so if it works for you, please share what you did.

through their options or settings menu (not Roku settings). Sometimes, you
have to use your phone or computer to go to a website to login. The Roku
channel gives a code that you type into that website. That's how I do it.
If that's not working for you, I don't know what to tell you.

I have an appointment today ( Sunday 12/8/19 ) with an ATT representative to switch from Spectrum to ATT, however, since I have four rooms which have televisions and are using Roku sticks, which are not compatible with ATT services, according to this source of information, thanks for helping me to avoid a huge mistake in switching services.
