My AT&T wireless receiver keeps losing signal when connecting to access point

Have had one wireless receiver for some time (over a year) and still find that it loses connection to the access point almost every night.  We go through the process of power cycling both the access point and the wireless receiver and it usually works for the next 24 hours or so.  The access point is across the room about 15 feet with a direct line of sight between the two.  The access point is connected to the gateway via cat5 on s direct port (ie not through a switch).  I remember sometime back there was a firmware upgrade that was supposed to fix this, which I believe I got.  Is there a way to confirm the firmware version and update it, or does anyone have any other suggestions.

I'm another guy having this problem.  My DVR cycles off and on, preventing me from accessing recordings on the wireless receiver.

But I noticed the problem went away while I was viewing directly from the DVR, which eventually led me to replace the display with one of my computer monitors.  That worked, as did disconnecting the HDMI cable entirely.  My LED projector, it seems, was putting out a signal that triggered the restarts, but only in off mode.  Which is actually standby mode, judging from the LED on the power button which only lights when the projector is turned off.

So now I leave the projector disconnected unless I'm using it.

6 pages dedicated to connection issues and Customers having to fix AT&T's faulty equipment. My service is routinely interupted. When did the consumer paying for a product become the Unpaid trouble shooter for the supplier? I personally do not like my TV going out and it irritakes me to no end to have to be the technician to fix it. I AM NOT TECHNICAL. setting up an appointment for Time Warner. I just want to watch TV.

Oops, thought I was just responding to an email.  Not my thread, so I can't declare it resolved.

After a power outage both of my wirelees receuivers refuse to connect back to the gateway or the WAP. I have disconnected and cyckled the power on all devicews ( seesn silly after a power outage) in a soewcif ordere, held poper buttons for both 5 and 10 seconds, held the WAP buttonfot 10/20/20 secobds multiple time on multiople devices, Still no connection.

The wired receiver is fine and I have a strong wi fi connection  to IIphone and Ipad anywhere in the houes, just no wireless U Verse!

A tech is coming out after three days, but does anyone have a tip or trick?

Less than 2 months of service. All going well for the first 6 weeks then we had a storm that knocked out power for a few seconds. Internet came back directly. TV took a bit of trouble shooting (more painful than expected even for an IT type).

All is back up and running except the farthest wreless rcvr connecting to the DVR connect. Live TV is fine, but DVR content is 50/50 intermittent (seconeds connected seconds off). All suggested TS attempted (signals, recycles, reboots). Moved the WAP to the highest possible location and away from all other boxes or signals. While the intermittent cycle seems to have improved, it's nowhere near the point of being able to watch a show, or even get through the request to watch a DVR recorded show.

Suspect I need a new WAP... Please Advise.

Hi @scottyusn,

We apologize about the issues, but we will be glad to help. Try rebooting all your equipment to sync it. Start by unplugging all the power on your U-verse equipment (gateway, receivers, WAP). Once everything is unplugged, plug the gateway in first. Once it comes up, plug in your DVR. After that starts working, plug in the WAP, and then finally all your receivers. Let us know how it goes.

My wireless boxes in both bedrooms keep disconnecting and I have to do a complete system restart several times that can take a couple hours.  This happen now a total of 3 times in not even two full months, not acceptable!

Hi @Ryanknu12,

We apologize about the issues. With both receivers going out, check to make sure the WAP is connected securely. If it is in a switch, connect it directly to the gateway. Try replacing the Ethernet cable. Also, make sure there are no devices around that can cause interference. Moving it further from the gateway may help also.

No bars.. Not even sure if the Motorola wireless has a signal bar display.

I'm sick of troubleshooting this system that only suffered a few seconds of power outage.

They system has only been in place approx 5-6 weeks. If the WAP is too far away we can blame your installer, but all worked well for the first month.

Anyway... I am quickly getting fed up with this, and ready to pull the plug in U-verse.

I have the exact same problem with my WAP - I have 2 wireless receivers and 1 hard wired. 2 nights ago, both wireless receivers stopped working but the hard wired is fine. I've rebooted and cycled through all of the troubleshooting steps and they're still not working.

We have not had a problem with our setup for 3 years but all of sudden both wireless will not work at all (not intermittent outages).

Can someone help with this issue?

The only thing I find to work is do a complete reset of the network.
Meaning unplug your WAP, then the gateway (router), and then the MAIN DVR.
Plug WAP, router and DVR in that order and that tends to work. If not, I
will sometimes log into the ATT gateway IP address and do a system restart
and then do the steps above again. It's a pain as it may take a couple
hours a time and ATT really does not care.
