Annoying sales calls
I getting about 10 calls a week for upgrading my service. I did some digging and they hire companies like Alorica to do this.
How can I get my phone and email deleted from any solicitations AT&T and the companies they hire? AT&T says they don't hire outside companies to do their dirty work, but how did these Robocallers get my name and Directv account info?

Unless they are scammers spoofing caller id into thinking you are getting them from DTV. Your info is on the dark web for anyone to buy

I have been getting similar calls, trying to sell me AT and T television. Always between 11 a.m. and Noon my time. First question they ask is “What do you watch on TV?” I tell the, that is private and I hang up. I finally got someone to admit that he works for an outside sales firm, employed by AT and T. Some other agent said this is happening “Because you have a landline.” I called AT and T Customer Service, and guy basically said he could not help, and then tried to sell me something. I am left basically having to not answer. I don’t have Caller ID but family will and others I want to talk with know to leave messages.
Would love it if this would stop.
Would love an answer.

Telemarketers are like roaches. They're there, we'll never be rid of them and the best you can do is control them because every time you get rid of one there are 2 to take their place.
If you don't have CID, all you can do is say "No thank you" and hang up.

I agree with you about telemarketers! Totally. Even had one of these folk chuckle at me when I complained. Last Saturday, I got two calls within an hour. I answered the first one and the conversation went as it always does. Forty-five minutes later, another call which I answered because I figured that AT and T had already called for the day. Um. Nope. I am back to not answering the phone, which is silly.
sigh.

Believe it or not, these robocallers are desperate for gift cards and live off poor income and lifestyle. They are willing to do anything to get money from innocent people. They have your name and DIRECTV account number because they probably chatted with the REAL Directv and gave your phone number to the representative, which would therefore show your account. The scammer had probably spoken with a REP who was unexperienced and willing to give your account number and name out. (I am not saying any of this is true, but I believe this is their method.) THESE SCAMMERS PROBABLY HAVE A SYSTEM SIMILAR TO DTV TOO

I do not have a DirecTV account. Never contacted anyone about it. Get my TV from somewhere else and have for over 30 years. So, your idea that they have gotten that from a prior conversation cannot be right! I actually think that AT and T has employed an outside company to pursue new TV accounts from existing landline users. Sigh.

The best defense against these type of calls is to quit answering the phone unless it is from a number you know. Answering such calls just leads to more.

Sandblaster: I understand that. I do not, however, have Caller ID on my landline. It may be time to subscribe.

I couldn't live without CID and Call blocker.
Lately, there are so many cold calls, if it's a number I don't recognize and they don't leave a message, I use *61 to block their number.

I suspect that I will need to subscribe. It is infuriating, however, to have to pay for a service providing by A T and T to control a problem that THEY have created!
