AT&T Fraud Department CANNOT BE CONTACTED
Two DirectTV accounts were fraudulent established using my information, one of which was flagged as fraud and closed by AT&T within a month or two of it being opened. Nevertheless, AT&T sent the accounts to collection agents as a bad debt in my name and this has significantly impacted my credit score. I have spent HOURS trying to contact the AT&T Fraud Department (the DirectTV Fraud Department is very responsive but cannot help me because the accounts were recently established on AT&T's systems). For AT&T to submit known fraudulent accounts for collection in my name is unacceptable, and then for its Fraud Department not to be available to actually address the issue makes matters so much worse. As an attorney, I will look into the matter further to determine what other recourse is available, but I am using this forum to let others know of the difficulty of ever reaching the Fraud Department.

All AT&T/DirecTV departments are impacted by Covid-19. They had to close many call centers and put additional employees on extended leave. So they are very short staffed.
In addition to calling, I would try www.directv.com/notmyaccount so that all bases are covered. To my understanding unlike the rest of customer support, their fraud/identity theft team works on more traditional business hours. Good luck.

fjferraro,
I am dealing with the same exact problem. What happened in your case? Is it resolve? Did AT&T help?
Thanks in advance

If you are dealing with an account opened in your name, that wasn't you, then file dispute with their Identity Theft Team/Fraud Department. As it is the weekend you will need to do so online, which is usually the best place to start the ball rolling anyway.
www.directv.com/notmyaccount
With their short staffing it may take a bit of time. If any further info is needed they should contact you back for anything else to complete the claim.
As a note if your situation went long enough to result in a past due going to a collection agency, you would need to dispute with them as well. Good luck.

If you received notice of a DirecTV account that was opened in your name, then you file a dispute with their Identity Theft Team. www.directv.com/notmyaccount
As it went to a collection agency, you will need to dispute with them as well.
As today is a holiday, that department is probably closed. But using the online form you can get the ball rolling.

I Concur with your dilemma. Someone opened a fraudulent account and ordered 6 ipads in our churches name. (by now it could be more because I have been unable to contact fraud department to report it. Today I been on hold and cut off over 11 times in a 6 hour period. Received a call back after leaving a number on the automated system. It turned out to be customer service) only to be told to call identity fraud again to start wait over again. I have never experienced such. primitive, inefficient and poor customer service. I ended up making a police report at my local precinct to document the fraud and inability reach the AT&T fraud department to cover any liability. There is no excuse for this level of non communication. I don't know where else to turn. Shame on At&T! PJR

If a DirecTV account was opened in your name, then submit dispute through their webform. Covid and week of Thanksgiving have them short staffed. Wish people would quit expecting full normal service levels during this year from any company.
