Bait & switch never stops

Had DirecTV for years, dropped ATT cell and kept DirecTV for a monthly pmt. of $26.50

In Jan 2020 DirecTV denied me to keep my TV service at the same monthly price, they want me to pay $46.60, I then questioned about the $35.00 family deal they claim is real, I was told it's not available in my area.

This one of the biggest crock of (Edited per community guidelines) I've heard in a long time.

I fired them and will pick up a local service to see just a plain old local TV programs.

PS: I also filed complaints with the FCC and my state AG. It should cost ATT around $500.00 to reply, so their.

At $46 you were still getting a discount as every package, except Family is above $50. And that is before receiver services, TV fees, taxes, etc. And discounts are not permanent. Because of people who were on discounts too high and/or for too long, and those that simply relied on discounts to afford the service, has caused them to reel discounts in until they weed out customers operating at a loss.

The Family package is $29.99 (again just the package cost itself). It has never been restricted to area, but is only worth it for a niche set of customers because of the channels it has. Here are the channels for reference: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/compare/printablePackageChannels.jsp?packageId=960004

And if you just want locals, then don't get any service but plug in a regular antenna and get the free broadcast.

The only issue on there end was the agent telling you that the Family package was not in your area. Beyond that you seem to have been expecting huge discounts, when those are a temporary perk, nothing more. Always be prepared to pay normal cost. Never expect discounts to always be there, and certainly never use them as your only way to afford service. If you cannot afford without discounts, then you cannot afford it.

Hey Mr. Juniper

What a reply, you must not be aware that for many years, the phone, cable and satellite firms have been blinking their customers and making unseen profits.

You claim your not an employee of Ma Bell, however you must have friends and or family members that receive monies from them, keep up the great thinking, Nancy might even hire you.

You may not like my response, but it is a realistic perspective. Unfortunately you are wanting a price point well below what the services actually cost. Family package might get you there, depending on what your other fees and taxes are.

Agent saying the Family package only available for certain areas would be wrong as like all other packages, it is national. All that is specific per area is locals, RSNs, sport blackouts, and taxes. It is listed on their website, through not side by side with the other packages. It seems to be more of an option for those that need a lower price point at the sacrifice of a lot of main channels, or use it more for kids as it adds in some "family" specific channels that a few of the middle packages don't have.

Sorry but neither I, nor my friends or family, work for AT&T/DirecTV. So we don't get money from them. I am simply not a fan of those who think they are entitled to costs lower then what they actually are. Discounts are nice when available, but don't have to be provided. If their services don't meet your budget, then certainly go elsewhere. DirecTV has no obligation to give you huge discounts, and filing complaints with your FCC and AG because of it I find absurd.
