Calling DirecTV is the only way to remove optional services or dispute them being added. Make sure you are calling the DirecTV number, not the AT&T one.
If it was removed you wouldn't still be billed for it.

True, though maybe they meant it was removed but did not get credit for the charges already there (so they were still "billed" as in required to pay).
