Charge for unauthorized service

we were billed for NFL Sunday ticket without our authorization. We did not even know we were being billed for this until we disconnected our DirecTV and were charged a lump-sum fee on the final bill. We called DirecTV and we're told since our service has been disconnected they could not credit our account. My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer and can no longer work. We cannot pay this bill.

can someone please help us? Thank you.

Puzzling.

For what time period did you get billed for NFL Sunday Ticket?  The season hasn't even started yet, so you should be able to cancel any time.

You'll need to call DirecTV to sort this out .... 1 800 531 5000. Say "cancel" at the voice prompt.

Your June bill showed that NFL ST would renew in July so why didn't you know?

If the account was disconnected BEFORE the Sunday ticket was cancelled then credit would not apply in this case, it's unfortunate that you didn't know about the auto renew before disconnect because even though the season hasn't started yet it's too late to cancel now and the system would charge for the entire subscription not just the installments either way this is very unfortunate for you, the only way to really solve this is to restart the account cancel Sunday ticket and then disconnect again.

@litzdog911 , what I meant was that a credit won't automatically be applied it would have had to be manually applied after first canceling the Sunday ticket, however, none of that happened. Personally I would have attempted to apply credit but that also can't happen after the account is disconnected.

To have to fully reinstate the account so that the option to opt out of the NFL Sunday Ticket is available, since it is still before the start of the season, is absurd.

An agent should be able to credit this under whatever system codes you have for a proper NFL Sunday Ticket opt out, such as if a removal was request in-time but didn't go through and has to be corrected after the season has already started.

Ideally the system should be programmed that NFL Sunday Ticket is automatically taken care of when the cancellation request is before start of season, but understand that automation for this may not be as easy. But if agent forgets to opt out manually, then a following call in should be simple adjustment, not a full reinstatement of account (especially if service month has started over by that point).

The long-standing issue where removal of NFL Sunday Ticket for current year's season and opting out of the renewal being two separate system transactions, resulting in many people posting here in the forum when they get charged again the following year because agent didn't do both, was annoying and now this? This needs to be addressed by whomever is programing your systems. Having a new billing account system should make things easier, not cause additional issues.
