they have pulled back on extending discounts and promotions once they expire after the first 12 months you are expected to pay the last 12 months at regular price.

Intro discounts are for 12 months. Little to no discounts are available during that 2nd year. They are trying to earn back on their investment.

Too many customers who have actually been with DirecTV a good while were skating by on discounts that were not sustainable, so operating at a loss. As such, discounts in general are pulled back while they weed those customers out.

If you cannot afford it without discounts, then you cannot afford it and should reduce services until within budget. Starting a new service and only completing half of your commitment (12 months of your 24 month service agreement) and expecting another "good rate" like your intro offer is not a reasonable expectation. TV providers exist to make money, not to be a charity and give the service for less than it costs.

@Juniper Thank you Juniper,

Our deal was for 12 months, not 24. (very carefully vetted by my wife !) So

I am just ,looking for another good offer, not trying to escape an obligation.

To be honest, we do not watch that much TV. Perhaps I can "live" on the internet.

Intro offer is 12 months, but with a 24 month service agreement. So discount and "contract" are different lengths as the order confirmation and all the advertisements in their fine print show.

Understand you are looking for another good offer, but the reality is that those intro offers are one-time only. Though possible to get discounts later, they will not be at the level of the intro offer. And as I mentioned their CEO has put a huge stop to most discounts so they can catch back up from the accounts that have gotten too much.

Even if discounts weren't pulled back, only being a year in is not any loyalty to get a good offer yet. Sometimes we must pay close to, if not the actual regular cost. Always plan for full price. If you cannot afford a service at the actual cost, then reduce service until it meets your budget, or find another service. Reality is that a business cannot afford to give "good offers" if it means they are operating at a loss. After the intro offer, they are trying to make back their investment on acquiring you as a customer which doesn't happen if they were just to turn around and give another huge discount. Just the way finances work for a business.
