Directtv in my RV
We have a Wineguard Traveler in our RV and we take our receivers with us when we travel. Every time we change states, I have to call to get the local channels changed. It takes a great deal of time to get this done, because the automated system does not recognize anything to do with changing local channels. If I say "change service address" and it's after office hours, I'm told to call back the next day. I end up having to say I'm having trouble with my local channels. Then I have to wait while a reset signal is sent (which won't help). Finally I am transferred to the queue for technical support. Half of the time the person I get has never heard of someone using their equipment in their RV and doesn't understand what I am asking. I learned to carefully explain that I need to change my service location, but NOT my billing address, and eventually it gets done. We are going on a cross-country trip this summer and I dread having to go through this song and dance every night. Does anyone have any tips for doing this painlessly? I know we're not the only ones with their equipment in an RV. We never had this problem with Dish. Why doesn't Directtv know what to do?

Right as AT&T is no longer allowing anyone to temporary change their service address and you have to send in a move order to do it with a $199.00 fee. You have to use an OTA antenna connected to the TV OTA tuner or you get an RV account to get the DNS channels the networks use to feed their affiliates but that will not get local news.

You can watch any DTV channels just not local channels and you got lucky as this has been in place for almost a year or more.
