Discount for disabled people

My mother died the first of December.  Now I am left alone to try and pay the bills by myself on my disability check alone.  Are there any discounts for people on disability?

I hate to have to turn it off because I really do love DIRECTV - but I can go to Hulu or YouTube tv if I have too.

You need to call 1-800-531-5000 to see if there are any discounts available to you, in general DTV doesn't have any type of group discounts so removing TVs or lowering your channel package are the only way to reduce the bill.

I am so sorry for your loss it is always difficult when you lose a loved one.  Unfortunately, there are no discounts it would be nice if there were.  The only way to make your bill cheaper and continue to have DIrectv would be to have Directv Stream bring your own device which would mean you would have to stream your service through a Smart TV or external streaming devices such as a Roku, Firestick, etc....  This would eliminate the receiver fees making it essentially cheaper than the Sat service.

If the account was in her name, you have to notify DirecTV and get it canceled. It would be fraud otherwise as tied to her name and social.

However if account is in your name, then review over the channels you use and see if a lower costing package might be a better fit. Make sure you don't have optional services or additional TVs you aren't using to make them worth it.

DirecTV treats everyone the same, there are no category discounts (senior citizen, low income, disabled, etc.). They are an entertainment business that treats all equally.
