does anyone know how to truly contact the billing department?

When you call level 1, finally get a person after a long wait, you go through 15 minutes of verification and an finally get to ask to speak to some one in billing. The response is to forward you to level 2 (someone in the US). That person requires you to go over the identical verification process and you tell them you need to discuss a billing error. While very nice (so is level 1), they are not billing and cannot help with billing. tThey state they will send you to Premium (level 3) support. once their and asked all the same verification questions, you are put on hold indefinately (no music, omly a msg every minute that you should use att.com.

It is difficult to imagine that a company as largecas AT&T does not have a simple way to get a billing issue resolved. It tends to make one believe it is deliberate.

Anyone know a direct number? This pertains to Directv. Thanks.

There is no number to a specific billing department, or where it is physically located. However, make sure you are calling the DirecTV customer support number. Since the acquisition too many people use the listed AT&T number, instead of the DirecTV specific one resulting in additional transfers.

When you get the voice system say "billing" and that should route you accordingly. If after the next attempt you still have issues, then when you get the voice system say "cancel" as billing is one of the things retention must be able to handle as it is a big part of keeping customers.

That number is AT&T (assuming the prefix was a typo), not DirecTV. Their respective "contact us" pages will clarify that. But here it is in my signature as well.

I am confused on why you make a distinction. The 2020 number is the one on my order summary that was emailed to me verifying what my charges would be. also, everything I receive says AT&T, the web site is AT&T, the bill is from AT&tT.

@jbdsd, they're 2 separate lines of business even though ATT puts their name on anything related to DirecTV they're still operated separately I would NEVER call the 2020 number for direcTV related issues or questions.

DirecTV still has their customer support number. When you call AT&T they usually have to transfer you, especially if you only have DirecTV service. Transfers between the two do not have a good track record. Since AT&T is the owner they want to prioritize the perception of their brand, and most likely sell you on other AT&T services if you just have DirecTV. And those on the AT&T side too often make errors in explaining DirecTV products and services.

That is why I make the distinction. Best to call the service specific number.
