1. payment is not made in advance

2. if you cancel, you will be charged for the balance of the current bill cycle, no refunds

3. if you cancel before the end of your current contract, you will be charged an early termination fee

All of these are facts, not speculation.

@AnotherUnhappyCamper

Bill produces 2nd day of cycle. If on auto pay then payment goes through same day. So it is in advance only in that it produces at the start of the billing month, not after it completed.

If service is 8/2 thru 9/1 then payment goes through on 8/3. Even if you cancel as early as 8/2 the payment is valid. This is because as of a few years ago, final billing is not prorated. So you pay for the entire service month, even if you choose to stop using it partway through. In this example, to not have payment go through on 8/3, you would have had to cancel no later than 8/1 as that was the last day of the prior service cycle.

Sent to all us customers in 2018:

Since I only signed up for this service late in 2018, I was never told or notified at any time after signup, I was unaware of this very convenient change of payment policy. And, I did pay for early termination. Although at the time I believed that DirecTV had breached the contract because the monthly service charge, as promised in the original contract stated a discount for 1 year of a 2 year contract on the service and remote. However,

1.  The rate changed every month AND 2. Discount for Remote/Controller not given after the 1st month.

I know this is an AT&T Forum but signing up is easy, once they get you under contract the rules change. They are "big" and I am one small voice, but their business practices are beyond deplorable. And, in order to make contact with anyone beyond the minion level, you need an authorization. Don't they realize that those people who pay the bills are the ONLY reason they take home a paycheck? Customer Service does not exist within AT&T. I will make it my mission for the rest of my life to give them as much "free" advertising that I can.

Since you don't pay separately for the remote I am not sure how you would get a monthly discount.

The payment policy change went to every customer.  Many service suppliers have the same policy (my local cable company does for sure).

There is a $7.71 fee on every bill. Sorry, that is for the extra TV. However, the following amounts and descriptions come directly from DirecTV.

$5/12MO abp+eBill and $64/12mo XTRA. Also could someone explain why there is a monthly charge of $1.80 for a Regional Sports Fee when I do not have any extra sports viewing?

Everyone that has the Choice or above channel packages are charged the RSN fee regardless if you watch it.

The end of month billing policy is in the TOS.

The additional TV fee is $7.

Packages Choice and up have your Regional Sport Networks (RSN). Used to be the price was hidden in the package cost many years ago (like other providers), but DirecTV chose to separate it out so everybody could see what their local teams are costing them.

Check www.directv.com/rsn to see what channels and teams you did have.

Only way to not have the RSN fee would be in a package without RSNs. Those would be Family, Select, Entertainment (though has a few regular sport channels), and if still available Preferred Xtra. (special package for those that watch little to no sports).

Costs wouldn't change every month. Price adjustment is annually. Intro discounts are for 12 months. Normally intro special includes free premium packs (HBO, etc.) for the 1st 3 months which start charging on the 4th bill unless you choose to remove them.

I am looking for the same thing.    What a shame when you have a valid complaint, you can't even contact a manager.    I will be cancelling my service as soon as my contract is up.    Why would I call customer service to register a complaint about another customer service rep??   How ridiculous.    It would be really helpful as well if the customer service ppl spoke English that was understandable.   Had 2 different reps and both were very very hard to understand.   Horrible customer service.
