fraud

received a call supposedly form at&t offering 50% off my direct tv account. return # 866 514 1853.

they did not know my monthly bill amount. they offered to give me 50% off for 2 years, no contract, all i have to do is give them 6 months in advance. around $600. said to buy ebay gift cards, as ebay is paying for the discount. ( now why would they do that???)

when i balked at the idea of gift cards my man hung up.

i can't prove it but this must be a scam deal.

How on earth can a software update move a dish that has to to be manually adjusted?

That's why I asked him that, just too see how dumb he was.  He should have smelled the trap I was setting for him.  When he went to confirm my name, I spelled it for him: Eye Dee Eye Oh Tee.  On the second try he got the spelling right.

Nope,  They had enough info to call DTV and pretended to be you to add them at full cost and if you cancel them before a month is over there is a $10 ECF.

There was a post about someone that was just scammed and wanted to know if DTV would reimburse them and how did they add the premium channels, then they deleted it.

Yesterday, 11/06/2021, I fell for the eBay Directv scam but stopped before I bought any eBay gift cards.  Somehow, the scammers changed my Directv programming during the call.  I contacted ATT/Directv and I was assured that no programming change was made but I can't get the channels in my plan.  I reset my receiver but still can't get my channels.  I will try calling ATT/Directv tomorrow and get this fixed.  It appears that the scammers are very sophisticated and even ATT/Directv can't see what they are doing.

When I went to report to my online phone carrier, the numerous phone numbers that called and sent threatening text, after clicking on to block are showing from Barbados and Antigua.  Hopefully, Directv can beef up their security so our systems are not compromised,.

Wow Geabad, I'm glad you did not completely fall for the scam and actually purchased any gift cards.  You would have been very upset when you found out it was a scam.  Can you believe - two years later after being scammed, they are still calling my number EVERY day trying to get me.  I don't answer the calls, but it;'s very annoying.  I have a very long list of all the numbers they call me from.

There was a person who posted months ago that fell for the scam initially. But after some checking after the fact, they quickly moved what funds they could. This changed the situation from loosing thousands upon thousands of their life savings to only being out around $20. (reading that one I felt like I was going to have a heart or anxiety attack on their behalf).

So they got away with a very small costing lesson. Many others are not so lucky.
